Parents, Twin Groves NEEDS YOUR HELP!!! Please click THIS LINK and take the 5Essentials Survey for Parents/Guardians.
Twin Groves would like to increase parent participation. Currently, Twin Groves is only at a participation rate of 1% for parents.

As a parent, this opportunity will allow you to share your thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness in a survey about your child’s school. Your participation will help us understand the conditions at your child’s school and guide our improvement. Parent identity and survey responses will be kept completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.

The window to complete the survey closes on March 29th. Please see below for more information.
Thank you in advance!

What’s Happening at TG?
PE: In PE, we are in the middle of our Dance Unit, where students are grouped together and are working on creating their own dance routine.  So far, students are doing a phenomenal job with teamwork, being creative, and having fun with the process.  We are looking forward to what their final project will look like and we know the students will be very proud of the hard work they’ve done!  After our dance unit, we are moving into Trimester 3 with our final 4 health rotations and PE units.  We are very much looking forward to the weather shifting (soon hopefully!) and us being able to get outside with the kids!

Health: The sixth-grade students are working on first aid for this rotation.  Students are learning about choking, EDITH plans, hypothermia, burns, and much more.  In seventh grade students learn about stress, Signs of Suicide, depression, and healthy relationships.  We will be having OMNI Youth Services located here in BG come in to work on healthy ways to deal with stress.  The eighth graders will be learning about nutrition.  Students will be creating a nutrition plan for a client along with a fitness plan.

Art: We are busy finishing up our final projects.  6th is completing paper mache figures with fun props and details.  7th is glazing their clay pots and adding details to their wood sculptures.  8th is glazing their clay bust.  They are also learning how to make a collage using an app called Pixelmator and comparing the process to the collage they made earlier with magazines.  Tri 2 ends on Feb 23 and my students will be heading to music!

Music: We are in the home stretch for Trimester 2! 6th grade is learning how to compose and using notation software to write their own motifs. They will wrap up the semester focusing on music production and Garageband. 7th graders are writing their own lyrics to a song using Figurative Language. They have been learning how to dissect a song and what songwriters use to tell stories in music. In 8th grade, we are reflecting on our own musical experiences by creating a Playlist of their Life. They are presenting to the class on what music they grew up with and how it has influenced them today. Music students will rotate to TASOL for the 3rd Trimester.

TASOL; As we come to the final month of Trimester 2, all students are starting to cook. Sixth-grade students are learning basic cooking terminology and utensil identification. They are working in groups to learn safety skills in the kitchens and complete basic recipes. In 7th and 8th grade, students are finishing their sewing projects and have started the cooking unit. They will be reviewing skills and learning new cooking techniques over the next few weeks. Trimester 2 ends on 2/23 and all TASOL students will move to Art for the final trimester.

6th Grade Dental Forms Needed
Dear Parents/Guardians of District 96 6th Grade Students:

Please note that your child’s completed dental examination is now due, per Illinois school law. The deadline for the dental examination is no later than May 15 of the current school year.  Proof of this required dental examination must have been completed within eighteen months prior to the May 15 deadline.
If you haven’t already done so, please make an appointment with your child’s dentist for a dental examination, have him and/or her complete the required form, and return it to your child’s school nurse.

State of Illinois Proof of Dental Examination Form
In the event that you are unable to fulfill this requirement, the state of Illinois does permit a waiver of the examination.

State of Illinois Dental Waiver Form
Dental examination forms, as well as dental waiver forms, can be downloaded from the District’s website.

If you have any questions, please contact Cindy Borzych at [email protected] or call the Twin Groves office at 847-821-8946.
Thank you for your prompt cooperation.

Dual Language: For Parents of Incoming Kindergartners
Do you have an entering kindergartner or know of a D96 resident who does?  Are you interested in your child having a bilingual school experience?

The District 96 Spanish/English Dual Language Program was designed several years ago to implement instruction across the curriculum and provide an opportunity for students to develop a deep academic proficiency in two languages.  In the Dual Language Program, 50 percent of the academic curriculum is delivered in Spanish, and 50 percent of the academic curriculum is delivered in English.

Families interested in enrolling their incoming kindergartner in the Spanish/English Dual Language Program can indicate so on the registration form while completing the kindergarten registration process that begins March 1, 2024.  This process should be completed by April 15, 2024, to be entered into the Dual Language Lottery.  Please note that indicating interest in the Dual Language Program does not guarantee acceptance into the Dual Language program.

Please visit our District 96 Website to learn more about the optional Spanish/English Dual Language Program (https://www.kcsd96.org/curriculum/dual-language) and our Dual Language Lottery (https://www.kcsd96.org/curriculum/dual-language-lottery).

**District 96 will be hosting a Virtual Parent Night from 6 to 6:30 p.m. on March 12, 2024, for parents of incoming Kindergarten students who are interested in learning more about the Dual Language Program.**
