TGIF…Twin Groves it’s Friday!
What’s Happening at Twin Groves?
Spanish
In 6th grade Spanish, students will be continuing with school supplies and articles. They will then move into the theme of family.
In 7th grade Spanish, students are working on interrogatives. Then, we will start with the verb ir and places.
In 8th grade Spanish, students will be working on the interpersonal speaking portion of the AAPPL exam for SHS.
Band
Currently the band is getting ready for our Winter Concert on Monday, December 13. All Twin Groves bands will be playing. In class each band is also working on scales, rhythms, and moving through their book exercises. We are learning to play together as a group working on balance, blend, tempo, and dynamics.
Band opportunities to look forward to are:
Solo/ Ensemble contest: Students will need to make a decision if they want to be a part of this good opportunity by Thursday, December 2.
Contest Band: We will be starting rehearsal for the contest band on Tuesday December 7 and then all Tuesdays in January and February until the contest in the first week of March. The students have helped in selecting the pieces we will play and now they will need to commit to the group. This band is open to all 7th and 8th graders and select 6th graders by invitation of Mr. Nagle. Commitment will be needed by Thursday, December 2.
Master Classes: This fall on Tuesdays we have had master classes for the different instrumental groups. It has been an opportunity when we can focus on individual needs of the specific instrument groups. We have two left:
November 16: Percussion - Timpani technique and instruction
November 23: Double Reeds: Oboe and Bassoon
Orchestra
Congratulations to all of the orchestra students on a WONDERFUL concert on 11/10! I am so proud of all the students and their hard work! Bravo!
As the trimester comes to an end, the 6th Grade students have finished their last playing assessment focused on a new rhythm. The 7th and 8th Grade students just completed their first orchestra benchmark this trimester! We are excited to move forward with all grade levels in Trimester 2!
More information about the IGSMA Solo/Ensemble Contest is coming soon! If your child is interested in participating, please have them start looking into possible pieces to perform. They can also check in with Mrs. Anderson for help with this.

Clearing Up Misinformation
Throughout the week I had some questions regarding the vaccine clinic and a COVID assembly.
I am not sure where these rumors came from, but Twin Groves did not have any type of assembly. Twin Groves is also not hosting the vaccination clinic.

8th Grade Spanish Speaking Assessment
The 8th graders will be taking their Spanish Speaking Assessment for SHS placement during their Spanish class from 11/8-11/15.
PTO Spirit Wear
A few items in the Spirit Wear order have been delayed. The items should arrive within the next week. So sorry for the delay.

To stay up-to-date this school year on local metrics, please visit the COVID DASHBOARD for District 96. Our priority remains to keep our students safe and follow guidance from the CDC. If your student is identified as a "close contact", you will be notified individually through the contact tracing process.
