Principal's Message April 17, 2020

4/17/20
TGIF...Twin Groves it’s Friday! Hopefully this is the last of the snow!!! I am ready for some NICE WEATHER! Enjoy your weekend and stay safe!

This past Monday, April 13th, was a planning day for staff. Instructional Coaches in District 96 created STEAM opportunities for the students to participate in. Please enjoy snapshots of the student work in THIS VIDEO COMPILATION.

What’s Happening at Twin?
Spanish
In 6th grade Spanish, students are studying foods with likes/dislikes.
In 7th grade Spanish, students are practicing restaurant vocabulary.
In 8th grade Spanish, students are reviewing AR/ER and IR verbs.
The Spanish Team hopes everyone is healthy and safe!

Band
I have enjoyed encouraging the band students during the remote learning time. Our goal is for each student to practice 5 days a week for 30 minutes and establish good practice habits. Each student is in charge of their practice time, but a general direction on how to practice 30 minutes has been given on schoology and encouraged each time we have had a Zoom meeting. Students are encouraged to submit a video or two each week in the remote Learning Submissions folder and/ or to work on Smart music. I respond to every video on schoology or smart music exercise a student submits. It is fun to see and monitor our students progress. I am encouraging students to also work through Breezin Through Theory and have fun while they learn theory. Every so often have your student perform for others. Performance applause is great for a young performer.

Orchestra
Orchestra students have been doing a great job during our Remote Learning time! All orchestra students have been working with FlipGrid. Students watch a video of Mrs. Anderson’s teaching and then they submit their own video of themselves performing. Students are also working with a new program called “Breezin’ Thru Theory”, where they practice theory lessons. The students have also been establishing consistent practice routines.

Remote Learning FAQs
Please see the Remote Learning FAQs, linked HERE. This information answers many questions about the remote learning plans, expectations, flexibility, grading, and more.  This information was also sent in the Superintendent’s Message from April 5th.
