TGIF...Twin Groves it’s Friday! I hope everyone has a wonderful Spring Break! See you on April 3rd!

More Twin Groves Talent and Dedication to Celebrate

At their meeting on Tuesday evening, our Board of Education members were pleased to recognize–and celebrate proudly with parents and teachers–our students recognized for outstanding performance at the Illinois Grade School Music Association (IGSMA) solo and ensemble contest held last month. We applaud these band and orchestra students and their teachers Cara Anderson (orchestra) and Dan Nagle (band) for their hard work.  See photos/details

What’s Happening at TG?

Orchestra
Congratulations to the 6-8 Orchestra on a wonderful concert on March 14th! I am very proud of all of the students! The 6th Grade Orchestra students are currently working on finishing their current book and focusing on new rhythms and time signatures. The 7th Grade Orchestra students are continuing to work on minor scales and soon will be working on two octave major scales. The 8th Graders are continuing to work their two octave minor scales and will soon be working on 2nd position. We are already preparing for our final "Orchestra Extravaganza" concert on Thursday, May 9th at 7:30pm (for 6-8 Grade Orchestra)! The 6th Grade Orchestra students will also be attending a field trip to an Elgin Symphony Concert on Friday, April 5th! We look forward to a fantastic field trip!

Band
The band is now starting to prepare for our Band extravaganza on Thursday May 16. This is a fun concert because it shows the progression from 5th through 8th grade. We also honor our 8th grade students on this their final night of Middle School Band. The 8th grade audition for Stevenson band is out now. Students should have been sent music, but it is also on the schoology doc for 8th graders. Have a great spring break and we look forward to the final push when we come back.

Spanish
Happy Spring Break!  In April, 6th and 7th graders will continue with food vocabulary.  The 8th graders will be learning about accessories and fashion.

IAR

Coming in Early April: IAR Assessment for Grades 3–8
The Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) is the new English/language arts and math state assessment for Grades 3–8 students in Illinois public schools.

The IAR replaces the PARCC assessment given the previous few years and is, in fact, very similar.

The testing window is designated as Apr. 8–26, but our students do not test every day during that period.

Read more info about the IAR, including our Testing Schedule, the impact of participation, and more.

As your building principal, I'm happy to answer any questions you have about the IAR assessment. Please call our school office or send me an email. Please see below for the testing schedule at Twin.

We are Twin Groves...A Celebration of Culture

Please save the date…..May 7, 2019
Given the rich diversity of the cultures in our shared community, we are looking forward to engaging students and families in a night where we celebrate our own culture, learn/celebrate the cultures of others, and build on a shared community culture. The event will run from 7:00PM to 8:30PM.
This evening will be open to all Twin Groves families.

If your student and/or family is interested in performing or presenting during the event, please indicate by completing this Google Form. When we have a better understanding of how many presenters sign up, we will be communicating logistics of the event.
