School Store Purchases
The School Store is a fun way for students to purchase small toys and school supplies with proceeds going back to students in a variety of ways from our PTO. At times, we notice that students are bringing amounts of money that may be too large in comparison to the cost of the items available, as the majority of items are $1.00 or less. Please talk with your child about what you feel is a comfortable spending limit for them at the School Store and help them to pack the appropriate amount of money.

Successful Lockdown Drill This Week
On Thursday, January 24th, all our students, teachers, and staff participated in a lockdown drill to help us consider and review best practice options and actions we could take to keep us safe.
Like me, our School Resource Officer Cliff Paul was extremely impressed with our students’ responses to the follow-up questions that we asked in each classroom. Students and teachers engaged in thoughtful conversations, which reflected their understanding of safety options in a variety of scenarios.
Valentine’s Parties
It's that time of year and our Valentine's parties are less than a month away. Please remember if you choose to include an item with your child's Valentines, that only non-food items are permissible and we ask that no goody bags are sent. Candy, snacks, or any sort of food item will be sent back home with your child on Valentine's day if sent to school. Students do receive a snack during the party provided from the PTO based upon the District 96 Approved Snack List. Thanks for your help in keeping all students safe.
Erin's Law Presentations
Students will be participating in Erin’s Law presentations on Monday, February 5th.
An Illinois law known as Erin's Law requires schools to implement an age-appropriate sexual assault and abuse awareness/prevention curriculum for Kindergarten through Grade 12. Kildeer Countryside School District 96 researched and observed best practices and programs for delivering this instruction, selecting Victor Pacini to present Be Seen & Heard ©. The focus of this developmentally appropriate and interactive program is to teach children skills to keep them safe from danger or abuse. Concepts discussed included distinguishing safe from unsafe touches, safety rules at home and school, saying NO, safe/unsafe secrets, and telling a trusted adult, as well as reinforcing that an adult's touching him or her is not the child's fault.
