Clay Club

Do you like building, sculpting, and creating? Clay Club is a 6-week class where we will create projects using both natural and polymer clays.
Session 1: Grades 3–5, Mondays, Jan. 28–Mar. 18 (when school is in session), 3 – 4:30 p.m.
Session 2: Grades 1–3, Mondays, Apr. 8 – May 13, 3–4:30 p.m.

Prairie Talent Show: Fri., Nov. 30 (Auditions held in October)

Audition sign-ups begin Aug. 31, for one week only. (See Dr. Pfaff's PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE for the form.)
•  All students welcome to sign up to audition
•  Performance time cannot exceed 2 minutes (no exceptions)
•  Students may be in only one act
•  Request one audition time only for a group performance and list all performers (Parents, please help coordinate this!)
•  Results will be sent on Nov. 12

Moonshots Club (Grades 3–5)

We're sorry... Moonshots Club for all eligible grades is at capacity. Parents who signed up their student, please watch for an email to come soon indicating that your child either is registered to participate or was assigned to our wait list due to full enrollment at the time of registration.

Are you interested in trying new things? ... In challenging yourself to shoot for the moon?

Moonshots is open to interested students in Grades 3, 4, and 5. Each week, we'll take on a new challenge and push ourselves to attempt things we might never have considered before! Challenges might include giving a speech in front of club members, working to solve tricky brain puzzles, bringing brainstorms to real life, creating unique plans to solve difficult problems, and more! The sky really is the limit!

Are you interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math? If so, STEAM Club is the place for you!

Each week we'll dig into one or more of these topics through experiments, building tasks, and more! STEAM Club is open to all interested students in Grades 3, 4, and 5.

After-School Rollerskating (Grades 1 & 2 and 3–5)

Enjoy after-school roller skating in the Prairie School gym this winter! Students need to bring their skates/roller blades and safety gear (helmets, wrist guards, elbow/knee pads)
3–4 p.m.; 8 sessions; Students may attend as many sessions as they choose.

Sign Language Club (Grades 3 – 5)

Have you ever wanted to talk to someone without saying a word? Join the Prairie School Sign Language Club! Meet weekly on Friday mornings at 7:45 a.m. to learn American Sign Language (ASL)–letters, vocabulary, basic sentence structure, questions, and more. Meeting dates are Sept. 14 – May 24 on Fridays school is in session.

Jump into Books Club (Grades 1 – 5)
Thank you for your interest in Jump into Books Club. We're sorry... Jump into Books Club is full for Grades 1–2 and for Grades 3–5. Any additonal registrations will be added to a waiting list.

Explore all genres of literacy and build the foundation to be a life-long reader! This club incorporates literacy learning targets, Kagan structures, and thinking maps to engage students in meaningful discussions about books.
This club meets 3–3:45 p.m. every other Monday.
Maximum enrollment has been reached (Others requesting to register will be added to a waiting list):
• Grades 1–2: 12 students, begins Oct. 1  

• Grades 3–5: 20 students, begins Sept. 24, 3–3:45 p.m., in Ms. Doherty's classroom

Do you LOVE to write? Or do you want to develop a love of writing?
Writing Club members discuss different types of writing – and they write!
This club is a place to be creative, to show off talents, to educate people, and so much more. Twice a month, Dr. Pfaff's Principal's Message will showcase some Writing Club members' writing.
