MOONSHOTS CLUB (Grades 3–5)

Are you interested in trying new things? In challenging yourself to "shoot for the moon"? Moonshots is open to interested students in Grades 3–5. Each week, club members enjoy a new challenge and push themselves to attempt things they might never have considered before! Challenges might include giving a speech to club members, working on tricky brain puzzles, bringing brainstorms to real life, creating unique plans to solve difficult problems, and more. The sky really is the limit!

Moonshots Club will meet Tuesdays when school is in session, 7:30–8:20 a.m., beginning Tues., Oct. 29.

AFTER-SCHOOL ROLLER SKATING - Winter 2020

Prairie School will offer after-school roller skating from 3–4 p.m. in the school gym in Jan. 2020 for students in Grades 3–5 and in February 2020 for students in Grades 1 & 2. Students of all skill levels are welcome–especially beginners!

Students will need to bring skates/roller blades (Please lace up new skates at home!) and safety gear (helmets, wrist guards, elbow pads, kneepads). Parents, please check that your child's helmet fits securely and rests squarely on top of his or her head.
Grades 3–5:

Explore all genres of literacy and build the foundation to be a life-long reader! This club incorporates literacy learning targets, Kagan structures, and thinking maps to engage students in meaningful discussions about books.

Attention all 3rd, 4th, & 5th graders!  Do you like to sing in music class?  
Choir Club is an extracurricular club that will meet on Fridays from 7:30–8:15 a.m.

Attention all 5th graders! Do you love learning songs in music class in different languages from different cultures and different countries?
World Music Club will be filled with songs, cultural dances, and pieces to play on instruments! Miss McShane has a lot of material, but also wants you to contribute and share your culture with the group!
This extracurricular club will meet on Mondays from 3:00–3:45 p.m.

2019 TALENT SHOW - AUDITION SIGN-UP

Attention all Prairie students!! Do you have a special talent you would like to share?
Prairie School Talent Show will be Fri., Dec. 6. (Auditions will be held in October)
Sign-up begins on Fri., Aug. 30, and runs for a week. The form will be in Dr. Pfaff's Aug. 30 Principal’s Message.
Please read specific information below:

  • All students are welcome to sign-up for an audition.
  • Each performance needs to be 2 minutes or less. (No exceptions)
  • Students can only be in one act.
  • If you are performing with a group, only one parent should sign up the group! Please coordinate this!
  • Results will be sent out by November 11.

SIGN LANGUAGE CLUB (Grades 3–5)

Have you ever wanted to talk to someone without saying a word? Well, you can at Sign Language Club at Prairie School!  
Registration is open for students in Grades 3–5.
Sign Language Club meets weekly on Friday mornings at 7:45 a.m.
Students will meet weekly to learn American Sign Language (ASL), including the alphabet, vocabulary (family members, colors, numbers, etc.), basic sentence structure, negatives, questions, and directional verbs.  Elements of Deaf Culture are woven throughout each lesson.  Students will learn to sign simple sentences and convey meaning from basic everyday conversation.

PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB (Grades 4 & 5)

1-2-3 Smile! Photography Club is open to 4th and 5th graders. We will learn about taking different types of photos, editing pictures, helping to capture school events, and collecting pictures for the Prairie Yearbook. 
Photography Club meets Fridays from 7:30–8:15 a.m. 
Maximum enrollment is 30 students.

CLAY CLUB (Grades 1–5)

Clay Club is an after-school club for students in Grades 1–5.
This club is for children who love art. Club members will create and glaze ceramics during this 3-week session.
