Understanding Your Child's Report Card

We are often asked what the typical progression of standards-based scores is for the standards that are included on report cards.

After examining data from the past several years, we have developed the typical progressions shown below, including:

  • Typical progression through a full school year
  • Typical progression through a trimester

Within each of these time ranges–full school year and trimester–we  also show progressions for standards that repeat in more than one trimester and progressions for standards that do not repeat–meaning that they occur in only one reporting period (trimester).

Typical Progression Through a Full School Year

Some standards repeat in Trimester 1, Trimester 2, and Trimester 3.
Some standards repeat in Trimester 1 and Trimester 2 only.
In the tables below, "On Track" means that the student is where he or she is expected to be.

Some standards repeat in two or three trimesters.
In the tables below, "On Track" means that the student is where he or she is expected to be.
