These results are crucial as all KCSD96 schools use this data for planning for the coming school years. Parents and guardians, please take 5 minutes of your time to complete this survey. Parent identity and survey responses will be kept completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.

A Message From Our BCBA - Board Certified Behavior Analyst - Monique Nemes
What are consequences?
In behavior analysis, "consequence" refers to what happens after a behavior, which can influence whether it will happen again in the future. In a home setting, consequences can either reinforce positive behaviors or discourage negative ones. For example, if a child completes their chores and receives a reward, like extra screen time, the reward encourages them to do their chores again. On the other hand, if a child refuses to do their homework and faces a loss of privileges, like no TV time, that consequence may discourage the behavior. By using consequences consistently, parents can encourage good behavior and help children understand the results of their actions, leading to positive changes in their habits.
"Consequence" typically holds a negative connotation in our culture. However, Consequences are simply whatever happens immediately after the behavior that can possibly alter the probability of it happening again in the future.

Finally, I am not sure why this is a priority in my mind today; possibly it is the warm weather, but it makes me think of cutting the lawn and my ongoing lawn battle with my neighbor. It seems silly, but I think that my neighbor is obsessed with keeping our two lawns the same length. Simply put, I enjoy cutting the lawn. I like taking the time to cut it, doing it in different patterns each week so ruts do not form by doing the same way each week. In the spring, I cut it shorter because it rains quite often, and by summertime, I raise the blade and leave it longer. This is the first thing that drives my neighbor crazy. I am convinced that he would leave his lawn at one length all year long. However, since I am raising and lowering the blade, he does the same. I can tell that he doesn’t like it by the way he glares over at me when my lawn is shorter than he would normally cut it. Another thing that drives him crazy is that I will cut my lawn on any day of the week. I am a busy guy, and I cut it when it I have the time to do it. He consistently cuts his lawn on a Friday, mostly because he is retired and it feels like the best day of the week for him. Here is the kicker…If I cut my lawn on a Saturday, he will be out there cutting his lawn as soon as I am finished. I cannot explain it. Since I will soon have more time on my hands, I might start cutting my lawn every other day just to see what happens. I may also raise and lower the blade each week just to see if my theory is correct. Anyways, a beautiful day like today makes me think about the endless possibilities of lawn-cutting fun.
Enjoy the beautiful weather!
