6th Grade Parents & Conferences

I have been receiving several emails regarding conferences from our 6th-grade parents.  Each grade level has been assigned a class period and whichever class your child has in that class period is the teacher you will meet with for conferences.  The team of teachers are all communicating with each other to share how each of the students on the team is doing.  Parents, you do not get a conference with more than one core teacher because of the volume of we have.  Having been through this many times, the teachers are well prepared to answer your questions and if they need to get another answer, they will get it and relay the information back to you.  We are looking forward to our conferences on Thursday and Friday of next week!

6th Grade Parents

Mr. Bays and I will be meeting with the 6th graders to talk about a wide range of topics on Monday.  These topics will include things like running in the hallway, mocking each other in the classroom, inappropriate language, flipping each other off in the classroom, and racism.  The students are using terms and words that are simply unacceptable and this needs to be addressed.

Finally, you know you are getting older when your child gets transferred to his job out of state.  This one happened to my son, the accountant, rather quickly in the last few weeks.  It is a good move for him as he likes his company, but the move was to Memphis, Tennessee.  Last weekend, we loaded up the family truckster and moved his clothes and minor stuff down south.  A few hours after we arrived, 14 pieces of furniture from IKEA were delivered to his place. Let the fun begin.  I am going to say this right here and right now…if I never see another Allen wrench in my life, it will be too soon.  My wife and I were a team, trying to put together a piece of ridiculously heavy pressboard with predrilled holes.  Humble brag, my wife is a doctor of Audiology and I am ABD with a few degrees in education, so we consider ourselves educated people.  Unfortunately, as smart as we think we are, give us a booklet with diagrams and no words, and there were a few disagreements in the building process. I personally believe that the Swedes are trying to ruin marriages one dresser at a time.  One day, when your child moves to a city far away, I hope that you avoid the Ektorp, Mastholmen, and the Storklinta.  Mostly for the sake of your sanity and marriage.  Have a great weekend.
