Fall Family/Educator Conferences

The opening of fall conference sign ups will be delayed until Tuesday evening (9/26) due to a technical issue with Meet the Teacher (the platform for scheduling all conferences and hosting virtual conferences). A more specific time on Tuesday will be communicated before it opens.

Fall Family/Educator Conferences are right around the corner. The conference dates are Thursday, October 5th from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM and Friday, October 6th from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM.

Conferences will be held virtually using Meet the Teacher’s video conferencing platform unless parents request an in-person conference using the instructions bolded at the end of this message. After you have scheduled your conferences, you will receive an email from Meet the Teacher with a link you will use to access the video conferences.

Middle school parents will have the option to sign up with one core content teacher (see below) and pertinent exploratory/PE teachers. Please note: Students on the A-Day schedule will have their Spanish teachers available during this round of conferences. Students on the B-Day schedule will have this opportunity in the spring.

7th Grade: 1st Period Teacher

8th Grade: 1st Period Teacher

If you are unable to schedule a conference with a specific teacher, please remember that conferences are not the only time to communicate with teachers. Please feel free to reach out at any time.

REQUESTING AN IN-PERSON CONFERENCE

Finally, we are coming up to the time of year at our house where a decision has to be made.  This happens every year in May and in October.  My wife and I battle, and when I say battle, it is much more accurate to say she creates an arbitrary date and I am forced to abide.  I like to refer to this as the battle for the thermostat.  Let’s begin in May.  Over the last few years, we have had unseasonably warm weather in both May and early June.  Unfortunately, the hard core date given to the family before the air conditioning can be actively turned on is June 20th.  Why June 20th?  No one really knows.  It is one of the great mysteries of the universe.  I have to believe that it had something to do with her being one of nine children in a Chicago bungalow.  When you were hot, you were told to go jump in the above ground pool in the backyard.  There was one air conditioner, a window unit in the living room and it had to be 100+ degrees for three straight days before that behemoth of a window unit was activated.  I had a similar experience in my parents' house where they only had a window unit in their bedroom.  When it became too much to handle, my siblings and I would beg to sleep on the floor in my parents room.  The furnace is really no different.  Come October, the heat is off limits.  Again, I am guessing it is the standards set in childhood.  Heat is definitely a November thing in our world.  I cannot even come up with a reason why.  I am wondering if this rings a bell with anyone.  If your significant other has a rule like this…feel free to shoot me an email.  <[email protected]
