Woodlawn Principal's Blog 5/5/23

5/5/23

It was a really good week here at Woodlawn.  The weather has turned and our students were able to get outside for some reward time.  We continue our A,B,C countdown, while May the 4th Be With You was yesterday and Cinco de Mayo was today.  We had our last dessert day today and we are looking forward to our conference track meet tomorrow.  Check out the items in the blog this week.

Congratulations to our Woodlawn Wolves for the month of April!

Proof of Dental Exam

Dear Parents/Guardians of District 96 Kindergarteners, 2nd, and 6th Grade Students:

Please note that your child’s completed dental examination is now due, per Illinois school law. The deadline for the dental examination is due no later than May 15 of the current school year.  Proof of this required dental examination must have been completed within eighteen months prior to the May 15 deadline.

If you haven’t already done so, please make an appointment with your child’s dentist for a dental examination, have him and/or her complete the required form and return it to your child’s school nurse. This examination can be as old as November 15, 2021.

State of Illinois Proof of Dental Examination Form

In the event that you are unable to fulfill this requirement, the state of Illinois does permit a waiver of the examination.

State of Illinois Dental Waiver Form

Dental examination forms, as well as dental waiver forms, can be downloaded from the District’s website.

Thank you for your prompt cooperation.

Finally, on a day like today, I dream of owning a convertible.  Top down, breeze in my face, what could be better?  The thought of a convertible is much more appealing than the reality of one.  I am not really a car person and to be honest, the upkeep and winter storage would be overwhelming to me.  I would be so irritated if a car that I drove part of the year owned a garage spot while my daily mode of transportation was outside all winter long.  On the other hand, I see myself on a dream date with my golf clubs, safely fastened in the passenger seat because my cool little car and its trunk is way too small for my wrenches (golf clubs).  Then again, I do not know how to properly care for a sports car so the mechanic bills would break me.  Conversely, how amazing would I look with the sun shining off of my silver head and my transition lenses going from clear to Ray Ban brown?  Unfortunately, it would break me financially.  Although, I could get a line of credit…who am I fooling?  I barely tolerate driving with the windows down.  Nevermind.  Just a dream...or is it a nightmare?   I hope you all enjoy this beautiful weekend.
