NWEA MAP

All students in grades K-8 will be participating in NWEA MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) assessment on Monday, August 29th and Wednesday, August 31st. D96 Thought Exchange Partnership

The District 96 Thought Exchange Partnership (TEP) offers parents opportunities to give feedback and receive information about District instruction, programs, and initiatives. Understanding parent perceptions is helpful for planning and communicating. Contact District 96 Community Parent Liaison Lubna Andrabi, 847.459.4260, ext. 8136, with questions. In particular, the District invites parents who have students enrolled at Willow Grove Early Learning Center to consider joining the Thought Exchange Partnership. The first meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 15 from 6:30-8:00.p.m.

Law Enforcement Safety Drill EDUCATION

On October 14th, Woodlawn will be conducting the annual Law Enforcement Safety Drill EDUCATION. Students will be learning age appropriate safety procedures.

In compliance with the Safety Drill Act, parents have the right to exempt their child from the Law Enforcement Drill EDUCATION with their school peers.

If you do not wish your child to participate in the Law Enforcement Safety Drill Education with the other peers, please contact Greg Grana @ [email protected].  The administration will arrange for an alternative review of safety procedures with your child.

If we do not hear from you, we will assume your child has permission to participate in the drill.

Erin’s Law

An Illinois law known as Erin’s Law requires schools to implement an age-appropriate sexual assault and abuse awareness/prevention curriculum for Kindergarten through Grade 12.

Kildeer Countryside CCSD 96 researched and observed best practices and programs for delivering this instruction, selecting Be Seen & Heard ©. For more information about this presentation please go to www.victorpacini.com/peace-of-mind-2

The focus of this developmentally appropriate and interactive program is to teach children skills to keep them safe from danger or abuse. Concepts discussed will include distinguishing safe from unsafe touches, safety rules at home and school, saying NO, safe/unsafe secrets, and telling a trusted adult, as well as reinforcing that an adult’s touching him or her is not the child’s fault.

Opt-Out Procedures

The presentation to Woodlawn  students will be during the school day on September 14th, 2022. If you prefer that your child does not attend this prevention education session, please submit your written request or your questions to [email protected]

Save the Date!

Finally, you realize that you are getting old when your children talk about you when you are still in the room.  Conversation starters like:

  •  “Take the remote away from Dad before he messes it up worse.”
  • “Don’t even let Dad try, you know it isn’t going to work.”
  • “Is he really trying to fix that (fill in the blank, lightbulb, window shade, door)?  He hasn’t fixed anything in years.”

I mean, come on…I am in the room with you people.  Honestly, I love my kids and they are awesome, but their patience level for someone who doesn’t flip through Netflix at the speed of light is very low.  As your kids get older, just know you have this blatantly dismissive action to look forward to and enjoy.

Have a great weekend!
