Woodlawn Principal Blog 1/7/22

We are back!  2022 is here and fun times at Woodlawn are happening.  I am especially pleased with the students this week as they recognize that we all need to wear our masks properly in order to stay safe and healthy.  There are only a couple of items for the blog this week.

Next Friday, January 14th, will be a Half Day. Students will be dismissed at 11:10a.m. for School Improvement planning.

There will be No School on Monday, January 17th to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Finally, you know when you are getting old when you start labeling your good and bad sides.  I have had a “bad” knee for years.  Way back, I injured my right knee playing basketball and since 2002, I have referred to my right knee as my bad knee.  Those of you who have been around me know that I am not afraid to talk about this knee and the trouble it causes me.  This past Tuesday night, my buddies and I went to the Blackhawks game and on my way to the car after the game, I hit a small (tiny really) patch of ice and my left leg slipped about 6 inches before catching the dry ground.  No harm, no foul.  I woke up Wednesday morning and I could not move my good knee.  I panicked.  I cannot have my good knee be my bad knee since I already have one of those.  Luckily, two days passed and my knee feels a lot better.  Sadly, I took inventory of myself and realized that my entire right side is a mess.  Bad toe on my right foot, bad right knee, bad right pinky finger, bad right and the vision in my right eye is wonky.  If I were to fix all of these things, I would be Steve Austin, The Six Million Dollar Man!  For those of you who do not know Steve Austin, he was on channel 7, Tuesday nights after Happy Days. Astronaut, had a bad accident, "we can rebuild him..." For those of you who do not know about Happy Days, I am really old.

FYI- The Six Million Dollar Man would cost over 30 million dollars today.

Have a good weekend and stay warm!
