Illinois 5Essentials Survey

Share your thoughts about how your child’s school is doing on the 5Essentials for school success. On behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education, the Illinois 5Essentials Survey will be administered online by UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago. District 96 will participate in the statewide 2020–21 5Essentials Survey to meet state legislation and the Board’s mandate. District 96 parents may voluntarily participate to complete the survey. (https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/) Please select the Parent Survey and begin.

Beginning in February and through Apr. 2, students and teachers will complete their surveys to help identify strengths and weaknesses in their school’s learning environment. In District 96, students in grades 4–8 will complete their surveys on Mar. 19.

This survey is designed to help school and district leaders better understand the parent/school relationship. All responses are anonymous. Parents are asked to complete a survey for each student attending a Kildeer Countryside District 96 school. The survey will be open through Apr. 2, 2021. Questions? See Frequently Asked Questions (https://impactsurveyshelp.force.com/s/) and/or contact 5Essentials Client Services 866.440.1874.

I invite all parents to fill out this survey!  I am hopeful that it isn't just the parents that would wish bad luck on me.

Finally, I am not sure why this is on my mind today, 35 years after the fact… but my college roommate drove me up a wall for a number of reasons.  He would come to life around 11p.m. and enjoyed staying up late into the evening listening to albums from Rush, Led Zeppelin & AC/DC (Yes, they were albums - aging myself out here). Not easy to fall asleep to and relax. Now my first class was at 9a.m. so I could sleep in.  His first class was at 8a.m. and he insisted on setting his alarm for 6a.m. so that he could, in theory, get breakfast and head to class.  Instead, he was the king of the snooze alarm.  Let me set the stage here and see if you can relate. The buzzer and when I say buzzer, I mean an air horn sound, not approved by any kind of audiologist anywhere because of the decibels this thing pumping out…I digress, this  alarm would startle me awake at 6a.m. and begin my day with the thought, “This cannot be happening.”  Since the alarm was on his side of the room and he was sleeping so hard that he would not budge, I had to resort to throwing things at him to get a reaction.  When my ears would stop ringing, and drifted back to sleep, 8 minutes later the alarm would go off again, and again, and again.  I do not understand the multiple snooze alarm hitters in the world.  I will give you one snooze, after that it is borderline crazytown.  His thinking was that he wakes up a little bit each time the alarm goes off.  That is bonkers.  Just so you know, to this day he and I are still friends, and he still makes me nuts.

Have a good weekend!
