Woodlawn Principal's Blog 2/5/21

It is happening.  We are hosting students in person and our teachers are currently doing both in person and online teaching.  I had the pleasure of doing a couple of teacher observations this week and I am amazed at what a great job they are doing.  For years I have said that this is an unbelievably dedicated group of professionals and I am so proud of them.  Heck, I hired most of them, they better be good!

PTO GIFT TO STUDENTS!!

Ask your student what they received today in their Schoology folder.  Spoiler alert, I am about to tell you what they received.  The PTO is treating your student to a FREE frozen custard with one topping or a small fry.  All you have to do is print out the coupon they received. If you cannot print it out, we will print one out for you!  You cannot just show it on your phone.  Thanks PTO!!

African American History Month

Woodlawn is celebrating our 22nd year as a school.  The last couple of years and through the pandemic, we have been giving our school a face lift.  On top of adding student artwork related to diversity and culture, our PTO has sponsored adding quotes around the building from famous and not as famous people.  Represented in our quotes that were chosen by our teachers, students and families can get a taste of all the differing cultures that Woodlawn represents.  My goal is to continue adding meaningful pieces of art and culture to our building.  Throughout the month, I will be highlighting our diversity as a school and community.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS FOR PARENTS OF IN-PERSON LEARNERS

Parents who have children coming in must do their daily self-certification.  It significantly slows down our arrival procedures when students don't have this.

Please remember that completing the daily self-certification is a commitment you made for your child to attend in-person. If there are repeat incidences for the daily self-certification the student may need to go back to remote learning.  Please set alarm reminders for yourself.  We do not want anyone to have to move back to remote learning for this reason.

To access the required Daily Self-Certification Form, you need to log into TeacherEase each day your student will attend in person to submit self-certification.

This VIDEO gives instructions, including how to access the daily self-certification form using your cell phone (iOS or android).

If you will be using your home computer to send daily self-certification, we suggest that you bookmark the TeacherEase website. The link is: https://www.teacherease.com/common/login.aspx

Finally, the Super Bowl is overrated.  Especially when your team loses in the NFC Championship game for the second year in a row.  I realize that your Super Bowl party may be smaller this year, but you can still amaze your family with some Super Bowl facts.

I found this link which is a lot of fun.  I am too salty to wish either team good luck.  I have a good friend who is a Chiefs fan...I hate to put my curse on them.
