Woodlawn Principal's Blog 9/28/18

Today is National Ask a Stupid Question Day!  I wonder how many people participated in this without even realizing it?  Maybe that was a question that could fall into that category? We had a full 5 days of school this week!  Crazy. I don’t have much for the blog this week so it will be a quick read.

6th Grade Parents

FYI - I will be having a discussion with the 6th graders about **Air Dropping items onto the electronic devices of other 6th grade students.  Word on the street is that this was happening last year and that the behavior is continuing. I will be taking initial steps to stop this behavior.

**Air Dropping is where students put a picture from one electronic device onto another electronic device.

STEM Conference for Middle School Girls TOMORROW!

Finally, I am fighting a losing battle. I have drawn a line in the sand with my wife but she has no clue that this is even happening.  Our pantry is the site for this epic battle. I am the person who organizes, straightens and keeps order in our pantry world. The top shelf is for snacks (chips, granola bars in the box, pretzels, etc…), next level is canned goods, noodles and other misc cooking items, the third level is cereal and baking supplies and the bottom level is for paper goods.  I like to keep things organized with labels facing out, rotating the stock as new items come into the house. Systems. It is what I do. So about 6 weeks ago, a blue basket was inserted into the canned goods section of my system. I removed it. It simply didn’t go there. She insisted that it stay and said that it was going to be part of the “system”.  Miscellaneous items have found a home in this basket. Items from all levels of the pantry now have a second home. Refusing to be a part of this willy nilly system, I have stopped my role as pantry organizer. I am more and more frustrated by the lack of organization in our pantry, while I am not sure that she has even noticed. How long will this mass chaos and anarchy continue?  The principal has to stand on principle here.  What could possibly go wrong with me taking a stand and writing about it in the blog?  <------ See the first sentence of the blog at the top.
