Finally, the human mind is an astounding thing.  I make every attempt to look at everything and everybody with a positive mindset, so when I observe something that looks out of the norm to me, I really try to figure out what the contributing factors were that caused a certain type of reaction.

We all have our breaking point and certain things can set us off.  Things like:

  • Others who drive slow in the fast lane

  • People with 16 items in the express line (15 items or less - and don’t give me I have 2 gallons of milk so that is one item business)

  • People who mispronounce words - pacific instead of specific - irregardless instead of regardless - ex-pecially instead of especially

  • Over posters - People who post that they have a headache - nobody cares

  • People who litter

  • Double parkers or line parkers

  • People who come in and sit in front of you at a movie theater when the theater is empty

  • Those who take both arm rests on an airplane

  • Individuals who tell the Starbucks barista to wait because they are on the phone                                                                                                                                                       I fully understand the frustration.

So...when I saw this on my way into work this week, it make me think.  I mean REALLY think. What did it take for the owner of this house to get to this point?

Did it start out as just a mailbox on a wood pole?

How many times was the wood pole knocked down?

Did this poor person lay in bed thinking about a solution to his/her mailbox problem?

Was the first attempt at a brick mailbox just the base?

When did they go to a full brick mailbox and did they feel like the problem was solved?

Did they anguish over next steps with their mailbox or was it a catastrophic meltdown?

How did they decide on the size of the boulder in front of the mailbox?

Was there only one boulder at the start?

Did the first boulder and the brick casing not stop the car from wiping it out?

Was there a family discussion around the addition of a second boulder?

Did the second boulder and the brick casing not stop the car from wiping it out?

When was the third boulder added?

Are they happy with where this current product?

These are the things that make me worried for other humans.  The struggle is real.

**The address has been blacked out to protect the psyche of the mailbox owner.

Have a great weekend! I am going home to hug my mailbox.
