Friday, May 23rd
On Friday, May 23rd, Twin Groves will have the annual Fun Run! This day will be filled with indoor and outdoor activities, including our Fun Run/Walk to start the day.
Please make sure your child dresses for the weather and brings minimal items to school.
If there is inclement weather, we will be inside for the day.

What’s Happening at TG?
PE: We are in the midst of our last unit, which is a Choice Unit!  We will continue with our Fitness days as usual and then offer students as much ownership of their last few weeks in PE as possible by taking student suggestions for activities that they want to see on these Choice Unit days.  We will do our best to offer everything the students want during this unit.

We will plan to have all students clean out their PE lockers during PE time and have grocery bags in the locker rooms that they can use to transport their belongings.  For 6th and 7th graders, we STRONGLY recommend using our provided masking tape and permanent markers to write their combination down and tape it on the back of their lock for next year.  We also recommend washing and putting their PE uniform in a safe place to bring back next year.  For 8th graders, we will be collecting any locks that students do not need or want.  However, please know that the locks are yours to keep if you want them!

We hope everyone has a restful summer, and we look forward to seeing everyone in August…Congratulations, 8th graders!

Health: The sixth-grade students are learning about the body systems and how they are interconnected. Students have gained insights about hygiene and how to keep their bodies clean.  Sixth graders have also learned about the physical, social, and emotional changes that happen when they go through puberty.  The seventh graders have been learning about drug education, which includes addiction and treatment options. Students also worked on a research project to further enhance their knowledge of specific drugs.  The eighth graders have been studying communicable and noncommunicable diseases.  Students have been learning about vaccines and how health insurance works.  Students also had a refresher course on SOS (Signs of Suicide) with the help of our amazing social workers.

Spanish: We are wrapping up our final units in each grade level in Spanish! 6th grade is completing a family project in which they will describe different family members, a culmination of many topics we have studied during this trimester, including the verb ser (to be) and adjectives.  7th graders have been studying how to describe where they and others go around town using the verb “ir” and have enjoyed describing their schedules as a result. 8th graders are wrapping up the year by discussing what they prefer to wear and items they shop for! In each grade level, we are also focusing a bit on reviewing the year’s topics as a whole in preparation for summer break!

Student Summer Tech
As we approach the end of the school year, we want to take a moment to touch base about student technology and expectations as we wrap up our time with students. Similar to this time last year, KCSD96 will collect all devices before break and return them when students come back in the fall. Please note, students will not be required to back up any of their files as their data will still be in place when they get their iPads back in the fall.
Teachers will be collecting the following items:
For Grades K, 1, and 8:
-iPad
-Case
-Logitech Crayon
-Block Charger + USB-C cable
   -Optional: USB-C audio adapters

For Grades 2-7
-iPad
-Case
-Logitech Crayon
   -Optional: USB-C audio adapters

This process allows us to track inventory, so everything is ready for the 2025-26 school year. Additionally, it gives us the opportunity to set clear expectations with students about responsible device use when they receive them in the fall. It also helps us protect our resources by reducing the chances of devices being lost, stolen, or damaged. Finally, by keeping devices at school, we support healthier summer habits focused on outdoor play, social-emotional growth, family time, and rest.
Please note, students who attend ESY will have access to their devices while they are here learning. Additionally, if a student uses their device as a communication tool, the district will not collect their device over the summer. If you have any questions, please reach out to Jessica Barnes or Kasie Dolan.

End of the Year Report Cards
As we approach the end of the report period, we'd like to remind families that Trimester 3 report cards will be issued on May 29th. This marks a significant moment to reflect on student progress and achievements. We encourage parents to review these reports with their children and celebrate their efforts and growth.

To view, parents will need to log into School Insight/TeacherEase. Returning families should have School Insight/TeacherEase log-in information. For new families or anyone who does not have an account established, you will soon be receiving an email from the district. If you have any questions, please reach out to your school's front office. If you forgot your password, please ensure you are selecting "Forgot Password" on the School Insight/TeacherEase log-in page. Thank you for your continued support in fostering a positive learning environment!
