What’s Happening at Twin Groves?
PE: We have been very busy in PE as we are getting glimpses of nice weather and approaching the end of the school year! We are in our second-to-last Health rotation with Group C currently in Health. This rotation, students had a choice between Badminton, Pickleball, and Volleyball. We are getting outside when we can to resume our Cardio Days while also working on finishing up our fitness testing! Group D will start their last Health rotation on 5/5, while PE students will participate in their last unit of the year, which is a Choice unit. With the variety of sports, games, and workouts that students have been exposed to throughout the year, students are now equipped to choose their daily activity. Each day, we will offer students 3 options for them to choose from. If your students have suggestions of activities they would like to see in this unit, please encourage them to let us know.
Health: The sixth-grade students are learning about the body systems and how they are interconnected. Students have gained insights about hygiene and how to keep their bodies clean. Sixth graders have also learned about the physical, social, and emotional changes that happen when they go through puberty. The seventh graders have been learning about drug education, which includes addiction and treatment options. Students also worked on a research project to further enhance their knowledge of specific drugs. The eighth graders have been studying communicable and noncommunicable diseases. Students have been learning about vaccines and how health insurance works. Students also had a refresher course on SOS (Signs of Suicide) with the help of our amazing social workers.
Spanish: In Spanish, the 6th graders are about to start their last unit on family. They will connect units on the verb SER and descriptions to describe family members. The 7th graders will end the year with the verb IR and the places that they go to on a regular basis. The 8th graders have begun their last unit on clothing and shopping.
