Today we had our Trimster 1 Spirit Assembly!
Thank you to all the staff and students who helped plan the assembly. TG Spirit Assemblies are always a fun time!

What’s Happening at TG?
PE: It’s hard to believe we are getting to the end of the 1st trimester! We have been working hard and having fun in PE. We wrapped up our flag football unit and were able to offer the students 3 different league choices:  Rec, Intermediate, and Pro.  We are now underway with our NitroBall unit and students grouped themselves between Pro and Rec.  Our 8th graders are being offered more choices this year by having the option to choose between our main unit and 2 other options.  The other two options for 8th graders in this unit are football (for those who missed it) and Lacrosse (something new!).  So far, the students are loving it!  We can offer this option as long as the weather allows us too!  Once the weather forces us inside for the Winter months, we are looking forward to opening up our fitness room!  Lastly, we want to remind students and parents that PE uniforms should be coming home to be washed at the end of the week. We also ask that uniforms be returned at the beginning of the week.

Health: In the first rotation for health 6th graders will be diving into decision-making and how to make good decisions.  We will look at the impact of their decisions on others and how they can improve their decision-making.  Seventh graders will be investigating the health triangle and the three aspects of it.  We will first look into self-esteem and goal setting as we begin this first trimester.  Eighth graders will be looking into human sexuality this rotation.  We will be discussing the reproductive systems, contraception, abstinence, sexually transmitted infections, the “Safe Haven” law, sexting laws, and sexual harassment.

Spanish: In Spanish, the 6th graders are just finishing a unit on the calendar where we have learned to talk about days and dates for holidays and birthdays. We are taking some time to learn about Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) and will then move on to a unit to talk about our likes and dislikes. The 7th graders are at the end of a unit in school that will end with the conjugation of AR verbs. Next, they will begin a unit on food. The 8th graders are finishing a unit on invitations and will soon move into a unit on the house.

Illinois School Report Card

The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) released the annual Illinois Report Card on Oct. 30 at www.illinoisreportcard.com. The Report Card shows the incredible achievements of our schools when it comes to a wide range of educational goals.

Our academic successes reflect a strong tradition of excellence at Kildeer Countryside School District 96. This includes maintaining a strong focus on standards-based instruction and core instruction, continuous improvement targeting content and standards, language acquisition, and more. These areas align with our Board Approved Goals for the 24-25 school year, as outlined here.

One component of the Illinois School Report Card is the annual summative designation – a descriptor of how well our school is meeting the needs of all students. This designation is federally required and is based on 14 indicators of academic and school quality/student success. We are pleased to share that Twin Groves received a Commendable designation. That classification measures areas including academic growth and proficiency, chronic absenteeism, and a school climate survey.

At Twin Groves, we hold high expectations for all students and believe every student can meet our expectations. This designation gives us the opportunity to reflect on our goals to further enhance instruction and supports for our entire student community. We welcome this opportunity to dive into our data and to talk about continued investments we can make to support every student in reaching their fullest potential.

The Illinois School Report card is just one of many pieces of data that we as a District analyze and use to drive school improvement efforts. Soon, you will receive information to participate in the online 5-Essential parent survey. We encourage all of our families to spend a couple of minutes to take this important and insightful survey.

This is a great time to remind parents to encourage their child(ren) to take the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) if they are able to do so. We want to receive the most accurate snapshot of our school, by making sure our test score data reflects as many students as possible.

Thank you for your continued partnership to ensure every child at Twin Groves is thriving. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Principal Jessica Barnes directly at [email protected]. You can also find this information on our website at any time, at https://www.kcsd96.org/curriculum/school-report-cards.
