What’s Happening at Twin?
Spanish
6th-grade students finished their unit on describing themselves and others. They then moved on to work on our last unit covering Family vocabulary. They used their skills from this year to create a mini presentation introducing themselves, what they are like, what they like to do, and discussing their family, pets, and friends. Great job this year 6th grade - We look forward to seeing you again in Spanish next year! Have a great Summer!

7th-grade students finished the year with their last interpersonal speaking assessment over our main questions from the year. We then worked on our unit ¿Adónde vas? To discuss what places they go to, who they go with, when they are going, and what they do there. They had an interpretive reading quiz over locations. Then students showed their ability to produce location phrases and conjugate and use the irregular verb ir - to go in all 6 of its forms. Lastly, we finished the year with a mini-cultural unit on Selena Quintanilla using the 1997 Selena movie. Great job this year 7th grade - We look forward to seeing you again in Spanish next year! Have a great Summer!

8th-grade students finished up their shopping unit with a listening comprehension quiz and a question/answer writing quiz. Students demonstrated their ability to discuss what they are wearing, what they prefer to wear in different situations, and what they are going to wear to an event. Students ended the year with a mini-cultural unit using the move McFarland USA to lead our cultural discussion. Congratulations on completing your Middle School education! We are SO proud of our 8th-grade students and all they have accomplished in the Spanish program over the past 3 years. We wish you all the best at SHS and beyond. Enjoy your Summer!

Band
The band students have been busy at work this month. Preparing and performing in the Band Extravaganza, Performing the elementary band tour, and now getting ready for the 8th grade graduation. The students have worked hard.

On Monday, May 13, our 8th-grade students performed in their last concert here at Twin Groves. It was capped off with an original composition created for our 8th-grade band by Yujoon Kim and Avi Jayaraman. The composition sounded great and showcased the talent we will be sending off this year to Stevenson.

While it is certainly sad to see these students leave, we have new ones arriving ready to fill their shoes. Band registration is open for the 24-25 school year. Parents of band members have already had this link sent to them, but if there are other families that would like to enroll your student in the band program here is the link to the Twin Groves band registration. Please follow this link to enroll your student in the Twin Groves Band Program.

Orchestra
We are wrapping things up in Orchestra! Congratulations to all of the orchestra students on a fantastic performance at our Spring Concert!

For current 6th and 7th Grade Orchestra students interested in auditioning for Chamber Orchestra and/or ILMEA next year, that information has been sent via email. Please make sure to print out the music at home. If a student cannot print at home, please have them come see me next week.

Also, just a reminder that if your child is in need of a new size instrument, please visit the vendor over the summer.

I am so proud of all of the students and their progress this year! Best of luck to our graduating 8th Graders and I look forward to another great year in Orchestra!

Attention 7th Grade Parents- Deadline July 1st
It has come to my attention that there is some confusion regarding a Washington DC trip planned for next February, intended for the current 7th graders and next year's 8th graders. It's important to clarify that this trip is not and has never been a school-sponsored event. Consequently, the district does not distribute information directly to parents regarding this trip.
The company that hosts this trip is called WorldStrides.
If you have any questions or need further information, please reach out to the school office at 847-821-8946.

Kildeer Countryside School District 96 iPad Collection Notice for End of School Year 2023-24
As the 2023-24 school year draws to a close, we need to inform all students and families about the iPad collection process. Unlike previous years, where students retained iPads over the summer, this year, we require their return to update and refresh our equipment for the 2024-25 academic year.

Collection Schedule:
1st - 7th Grade: May 30

Items to be Returned:
Each student is required to return the following items:
iPad
iPad case
Charging cable
Charger
Logitech crayon

Damage and Missing Items Policy:
If any items are damaged or missing, please refer to the iPad handbook signed at registration. Remember:
-Students have coverage for two incidents of damage to the iPad and two to accessories (charging cable, brick, case, pencil).
-Beyond these incidents, costs for repair or replacement fall to the students and their families.
-Intentional damages are not covered by the district.

Summer Programming Exception: Students enrolled in summer programming will retain their iPads and accessories through the summer session, returning them by June 27, 2024. This ensures that all students participating in educational activities have the necessary resources.

We appreciate your cooperation in returning the iPads and accessories promptly and in good condition. This initiative is crucial for maintaining high-quality educational support for our students.

Thank you for your attention and continued support of Kildeer Countryside School District 96.
