What’s Happening at Twin?
PE: We are in the midst of our last unit, which is a Choice Unit! We will continue with our Fitness days as usual and then offer students as much ownership of their last few weeks in PE as possible by administering a student survey to see what games, sports, and activities they want to see on these Choice Unit days. They were able to list games we have played before or offer up a new idea that they would like to participate in. We will do our best to offer everything the students want during this unit.
We will plan to have all students clean out their PE lockers during PE time and have grocery bags in the locker rooms that they can use to transport their belongings. For 6th and 7th graders, we STRONGLY recommend using our provided masking tape and permanent markers to write their combination down and tape it on the back of their lock for next year. We also recommend washing and putting their PE uniform in a safe place to bring back next year. For 8th graders, we will be collecting any locks that students do not need or want. However, please know that the locks are yours to keep if you want them!
We hope everyone has a restful summer and we look forward to seeing everyone in August…Congratulations 8th graders!
Health: The sixth-grade students are learning about the body systems and how they are interconnected. Students have gained insights about hygiene and how to keep their bodies clean. Sixth graders have also learned about the physical, social, and emotional changes that happen when they go through puberty. The seventh graders have been learning about drug education which includes addiction and treatment options. Students also worked on a research project to further enhance their knowledge of specific drugs. The eighth graders have been studying communicable and non-communicable diseases. Students have been learning about vaccines and how health insurance works. Students also had a refresher course on SOS (Signs of Suicide) with the help of our amazing social workers.
Art: We are ending on a positive note! 6th grade is either creating a paper mache figure or drawing with colored pencils using shading techniques. 7th grade is shading a sphere and a cube using 5H - 6B pencils to create the appearance of 3D forms on 2D paper! 8th grade is finishing up a collage using the Pixelmator App.
TASOL: TASOL is wrapping up the year with all grades working in the kitchens. Students are learning new cooking techniques and safety skills while working together in small groups. Each grade level is completing different recipes to strengthen their knowledge of cooking terms and utensil uses. Enjoy the summer and have the students put their new skills to use in the kitchens.

Kildeer Countryside School District 96 iPad Collection Notice for End of School Year 2023-24
As the 2023-24 school year draws to a close, we need to inform all students and families about the iPad collection process. Unlike previous years, where students retained iPads over the summer, this year, we require their return to update and refresh our equipment for the 2024-25 academic year.
Collection Schedule:
8th Grade: May 22
Kindergarten: May 29
1st - 7th Grade: May 30
Items to be Returned:
Each student is required to return the following items:
iPad
iPad case
Charging cable
Charger
Logitech crayon
Damage and Missing Items Policy:
If any items are damaged or missing, please refer to the iPad handbook signed at registration. Remember:
-Students have coverage for two incidents of damage to the iPad and two to accessories (charging cable, brick, case, pencil).
-Beyond these incidents, costs for repair or replacement fall to the students and their families.
-Intentional damages are not covered by the district.
Summer Programming Exception: Students enrolled in summer programming will retain their iPads and accessories through the summer session, returning them by June 27, 2024. This ensures that all students participating in educational activities have the necessary resources.
We appreciate your cooperation in returning the iPads and accessories promptly and in good condition. This initiative is crucial for maintaining high-quality educational support for our students.
Thank you for your attention and continued support of Kildeer Countryside School District 96.
