Today we had our first Spirit Assembly in years! It was so much fun to have all the students together! We enjoyed musical performances, a staff video, minute-to-win-it games, and a celebration of our students!
Trimester 2 starts on Monday, November 14th.
What’s Happening at Twin?
Spanish
In 6th grade Spanish, we are completing a unit on the calendar that included vocabulary about days, months, and numbers. Next, we will learn to talk about our general likes and dislikes. In 7th grade, we reviewed some basic grammar and are getting ready to move from AR verb conjugation to ER and IR conjugation. The 8th graders are reviewing for the Stevenson Placement Test, a four-part assessment that they will complete before Winter Break.
Band
Concert season is upon us. From this point out we have a concert every month but April. The jazz band will perform with the 5th graders Monday, November 14. All band students will be performing on Monday, December 12 for their fall concert.
This past weekend we had 4 students at ILMEA. They did great and I was very proud of each of them and the students who auditioned with them.
IGSMA Solo and Ensemble contest is on February 4th. Students are encouraged to sign up for the contest and be a part of this great experience. Full details of the contest have been sent out Thursday. Here is a link to those details and the registration form.
2023 IGSMA Solo/Ensemble Contest Twin Groves Band Registration Form
In addition to the solo/ ensemble contests, the band will again participate in the Large Ensemble Band Contest on March 3 or 4th. We are selecting the pieces now and practice for the contest band will start on Tuesday, Dec 6, 2022. More information will follow shortly.
Orchestra
Congratulations to all of the orchestra students on a fantastic concert last night (11/10)! I am so proud of all of the students and all of their hard work!
Another congratulation to the 5 orchestra students who made it into the ILMEA festival on Nov. 5th! Congrats to all students who auditioned as well!
Just a reminder that registration for the IGSMA Solo/Ensemble Contest is now open! This year’s contest takes place on Saturday, February 4th from 8 am-4 pm at Highland Middle School in Libertyville. Please make sure to save the date and time frame, since we do not receive the schedule from IGSMA until closer to the event. All registration forms and the $5 per entry fee must be turned in by Tuesday, November 22nd. Please see the registration form below for more information:
