Please have students come to school with a water bottle, athletic shoes, and please have them dress for the weather.

Fingers crossed that we have great weather!
If there is inclement weather, there will be rainy day plans and we will stay inside.

What’s Happening at Twin Groves?

PE: On 5/18 SHS PE junior leaders came and led some activities to promote their PE leadership program. The students really enjoyed the day.  The Fun Run will be on 5/27.  The students can choose to run in the competitive run.  Afterwards there will be a variety of activities for all students.  In PE we will continue with our elective unit.  The activities will include kickball, sand volleyball and soccer.  Cardio days will also continue twice a week.  We would like wish everyone a great summer and good luck to the 8th grade going to SHS!

Health: The sixth grade students are learning about the body systems and how they are interconnected. Students have gained insights about hygiene and how to keep their bodies clean.  Sixth graders have also learned about the physical, social, and emotional changes that happen when they go through puberty.  The seventh graders have been learning about drug education, which includes addiction and treatment options. Students also have worked on a research project to further enhance their knowledge of specific drugs. The eighth graders have been studying about communicable and noncommunicable diseases.  Along with that, students have been learning about vaccines and how health insurance works.  They also had a refresher course on SOS (Signs of Suicide) with help from our amazing social workers.

Music: As we wind down the 3rd trimester, all grades are shifting to the keyboard unit. We started by learning the notes and rhythms, and where to find the notes on the keyboard. Then we were off and running learning new music!  6th grade will focus on melody, while 7th and 8th grade will learn how to play half and full chords. 7th Grade will focus on the 12 Bar Blues form. Students will all start at their own level of knowledge and skill. Many students come in with lessons, so all curriculum is adjusted to their skill level. To close out the year, each class will have their own recital to share what they can play or what they composed. It’s been a great trimester and enjoy your summers! And as always, keep singing!

TASOL: We are wrapping up the year with all grades working in the kitchens. They are all learning sanitary and safety skills while working together in small groups. Each grade level is completing different recipes to strengthen their knowledge of cooking terms and utensil uses. Enjoy the summer and have the students put their new skills to use in the kitchens!

Device Collection and Information
8th Grade iPad Collection
8th Grade iPad collection will happen on Wednesday, May 25th. Students will be expected to turn in their iPad (inside of the case), charging cable, charging brick, and Logitech Crayon.

Non-Returning 6th or 7th Grade Students
Any non-returning students in grades 6 and 7 will need to leave their iPad (inside of the case), charging cable, charging brick, and Logitech Crayon, with the building Tech Aide for collection.

Students in Grades K-7
Students in grades K-7 will keep their iPad and all peripherals over the summer unless they are not returning to D96 for the 22-23 school year.

Any non-returning students will need to leave their iPad (inside of the case), charging cable, charging brick, and Logitech Crayon, with the building Tech Aide for collection.

Families who exit out of D96 after the last day of school will need to return all of their technology to the District Office over the summer. Any device not returned will be placed in lost mode and will not function.
Over the summer, some apps and services will continue to work at the student’s 21-22 grade level. Apps and websites like Dreambox, Lexia, Typing Agent, (etc) will be available to use over the summer but are not guaranteed to work at all times. The technology department will only be supporting the use of these apps in ESY or Summer School.

As we get closer to August, we will roll-up student data and new services. Apps will also become available to them relative to their 22-23 grade level

Summer Reading
Incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th graders will be completing a summer reading assignment.  The 5th grade, 6th grade, and 7th grade LA teachers will also be sharing this in class, and the assignment will be posted on the district website.
