Congratulations to the 7th Grade Girls B Volleyball Team
The 7th grade B volleyball team won the Prairie Middle School Conference championship this year!  We had to defeat some tough competition along the way, but we came out victorious.  Overall, it was a wonderful season!

What’s Happening at Twin?
PE: We hope everyone has a nice spring break!  As the weather warms up, we will have our cardio days twice a week when we return from break.  We will also be moving to outdoor activities such as football, soccer, nitro ball, softball, and basketball.  We want to remind everyone to keep a sweatshirt in their locker for the colder days.  Lastly, all students will be taking their fitness assessment tests.  These tests will include cardiovascular endurance,  muscular strength, muscular endurance, and flexibility.

Health: The sixth grade students are learning about body systems and how they’re interconnected. They have gained insights about hygiene and how to keep their bodies clean.  Sixth graders have also learned about the physical, social, and emotional changes that happen when they go through puberty.  The seventh graders have been learning about drug education, which includes addiction and treatment options. Students also worked on a research project to further enhance their knowledge of specific drugs.  The eighth graders have been studying about communicable and noncommunicable diseases.  Students have been learning about vaccines and how health insurance works.  They also had a refresher course on SOS (Signs of Suicide) with help from our amazing social workers.

Art: We started out the semester learning about how participating in the arts has many positive benefits and how drawing helps students improve their thinking skills.  6th grade started with clay lizards and are now moving onto figure drawing, where they will learn the correct proportions of the human figure and face. They will also learn about the art style of graffiti artist Keith Haring.  7th grade is learning how to draw with accuracy.  They will choose a cartoon character to draw and will transfer it to a rubber stamp to carve and print.  They will also learn about Andy Warhol and his Pop Art style.  8th grade is learning about how fonts, typeface, and formatting affect the tone of text.  They have chosen a quote to paint using the most effective font and format to drive their message.  Have a safe break!

Music: Trimester three has started, and we are off and running in the music classroom. All grades jumped right into playing the guitar. We are all currently working on reading TABulature. 6th Grade will focus on playing melody, 7th grade will add half chords, and 8th grade will add full chords. (Chords will be added after spring break.) Some of our more gifted guitarists will be bringing in some of their own material to work on during class. We also took a break to listen to a composition to start building up our musical vocabulary. Have a great spring break!

TASOL: Welcome to TASOL for Trimester 3! This month in 7th and 8th grade, we are working on the five basic steps of laundry and care for clothing. We have finished our money management unit where students identified different financial terms and how to apply them in order to be a knowledgeable consumer. They looked at budgets and how to make short term and long term goals. In 6th grade, we looked at the nine family functions and created a family crest to represent those functions within each individual's family. Students are currently exploring different career clusters and will begin creating a resume after spring break.
