What’s Happening at Twin?
PE: The students are currently in an elective program where they got to pick the activity they would like to participate in during this rotation.  The activities were badminton, volleyball, and scooter basketball.  The elective program allows students to choose an activity that they have an interest in.  The next rotation will be an elective as well with different options to choose from. As we move forward, our fitness will focus on Cardiovascular endurance.

Health: The sixth grade students are working on first aid this rotation.  Students are learning about choking, EDITH plans, hypothermia, burns, and much more.  In seventh grade, students are learning about stress, Signs of Suicide, depression, and healthy relationships.  We will be having OMNI Youth Services located here in BG come in to work on healthy ways to deal with stress.  The eighth graders will be learning about nutrition.  Students will be creating a nutrition and fitness plan for a client.

Art: We have been sooooo busy!  6th grade finished their paper mache figures and we now have time to do a value painting.  Painter Wayne Theibaud is our inspiration for painting food in a variety of tints and shades.  7th grade just finished making a wood project inspired by a famous artist and are now glazing their clay vessels.  8th grade just finished making a Surreal collage using old magazines.  They are now glazing their clay busts from last month.

Music: As we wind down the 2nd trimester, all grades are finishing up the guitar unit. We started by learning the parts of the guitar and then all grades started learning and practicing tablature for melodies. 6th grade will continue working on melody, while 7th and 8th grade will learn how to play half and full chords. They will be singing and accompanying themselves with the guitar for their final projects. It’s been a great trimester and soon they will be off to TASOL!

TASOL: As we come to the final week of Trimester 2, all students have started to cook. Sixth grade students are learning basic cooking terminology and utensil identification. They have been working with their groups to learn basic safety skills in the kitchens and cook simple recipes. Seventh and eighth grade students have finished their sewing projects and have started our cooking unit. They have reviewed skills and learned some new cooking techniques over the last few weeks. Trimester 2 ends on 2/25 and all TASOL students will move to Art for the final trimester.

*NEW* SPRING COLLABORATIVE CONFERENCES*
The collaborative conference dates are Monday, March 14th from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM and Tuesday, March 15th from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM.
We will be using Meet the Teacher as an electronic sign up for collaborative conferences. A School Messenger email will be sent to families on Thursday, February 24th at 6:00PM with a link to sign up for conferences.
Collaborative conferences will be held over zoom unless parents request an in-person conference using the instructions below. A document with all the staff zoom links will be sent out on Friday, March 11th.

REQUESTING AN IN-PERSON CONFERENCE
After selecting the teachers you wish to meet with and choosing a time for each conference, Meet the Teacher will prompt you to save the appointment and ask if you want to add a message for the teacher. If you want to have an in-person conference with the teachers, you must notify the teachers via this messaging feature (see picture below).
