What’s Happening at Twin Groves?
PE: In Physical Education class we just finished up our floor hockey unit.  We are now moving into the volleyball unit.  The unit will start with some lead up volleyball games then we will start volleyball.  The unit will consist of some skill work and then game play.  Students were put into teams and we will have a round-robin tournament.  After the round-robin tournament we will have playoffs with a class champion.  We will continue with our fitness days as well.

Health: The sixth grade students are working on first aid this rotation.  Students are learning about choking, EDITH plans, hypothermia, burns, and much more.  In seventh grade, students are learning about stress, Signs of Suicide, depression, and healthy relationships.  We will be having OMNI Youth Services located here in BG come in to work on healthy ways to deal with stress.  The eighth graders will be learning about nutrition.  Students will be creating a nutrition plan for a client along with a fitness plan.

Art: Sixth grade is thrilled to start a figure sculpture.  We started with a wire form and are covering it with a paper mache pulp.  Seventh grade is starting an abstract wood sculpture.  Unity and repetition are goals the students are working towards.  Eighth grade is starting a clay bust after spending time studying and drawing the features of the face.

Music: Music students are working on several different projects at this time. 6th grade is finished with their first keyboard songs, and continue to work on their BreezinThru online music skills program to prepare for their composition unit. 7th Grade is just finishing up their 12 Bar Blues Improvisation Unit. We are recording our compositions in garageband. 8th Grade is working on their POEM/Garageband project where they read a poem and create an accompaniment to support their reading. Soon we will all be playing the guitar!

TASOL: TASOL students completed a laundry unit earlier this month in seventh and eighth grade. They focused on the 5 basic steps in order to successfully complete a load of laundry. They are currently working on a large 3D multi-step sewing project. Sixth graders are working on their sewing projects which consists of a pillow with a symbol sewn on the front. They are using three different stitches to complete this project.  Later this month, the 6th grade students will be focused on MyPlate guidelines and the importance of all five food groups. Sixth grade FACS club will start later this month. Students who would like to come and cook after school, please listen to announcements for the weekly sign up.
