TGIF...Twin Groves it’s Friday!

This week we celebrated Nurses Day and Staff Appreciation Week.
A HUGE THANK YOU to Mrs. Borzych for all her care and support for the students and staff at Twin Groves.
A HUGE THANK YOU to our amazing staff at Twin Groves. Thank you for everything you do! We miss you!

Thank you to the Twin Groves PTO for making this a very special week!
Thank you to the parents and students for your messages of appreciation!

Reminder… Friday, May 15th is a designated staff planning day. Students should look in their Schoology Lunch course for their learning plans. The students will receive a message about this in the morning announcements on Thursday, May 14th and again on Friday, May 15th.

What’s Happening At Twin Groves?

PE
First we hope everyone is doing well. We are continuing with our remote learning. The students are doing a real nice job with their work and activities. The Zoom sessions are going well. Last week we had Officer Krozel join us and she was able to answer many good questions the students had about the community and other general information. Just a reminder for the students to submit your fun run video if they wish to. If you are going to participate, please send your video to Mrs. Ruchim. During the last couple of weeks the students developed a fitness goal and participated in a heart rate activity.

Health
This rotation, the 6th graders will be working on understanding the human body and how the systems are interrelated. We will also discuss hygiene and human growth and development.  The 7th graders are learning about drugs that affect the BG/Lincolnshire area. These include prescription drug abuse, marijuana, alcohol, heroin, and vaping. A drug research project will be done at the end of the rotation. In 8th grade, students are learning about communicable and non-communicable disease. We have discussed COVID-19, STI’s, cancer, heart disease, and diabetes.

Art
E-learning is coming along well. We are just finishing up a project called “Destination Anywhere But Here!” Students have been asked to create a postcard image of a destination that’s relaxing, educational, or adventurous! We’ve spent time brainstorming ideas, analyzed the key components of postcard images, used our imaginations to write postcards and then spent quality time creating the images. Students have chosen all different mediums for their final work.  I hope they enjoyed thinking of their next vacation destination!

Music
It’s been a long end of the year, but students are doing a great job adjusting to remote learning. We have our challenges, but Twin Groves students are resilient and we are so proud of you! In music, for the last month students were given 3 options each week to choose from: Creating (Composing), Responding (Creating Playlist for specific Historical Periods or other themes) or Connecting (Using apps on the ipad that connect music to other curriculums). They are free to choose from the different topics each week. All assignments are in Schoology. May their musical creativity continue to flourish as we wind down the school year.

TASOL
Thank you for all of the great work being submitted this month in TASOL. As we finish out the year,  we are working on a Choice Board to allow students to choose assignments. These activities are linked to our targets and give students the opportunity to complete different skills at home with the resources available. Hope your students enjoy trying different assignments and get a chance to explore something new. I look forward to seeing you all next year!

Student Material PIck Up
Information on student material pick up will be coming out soon. A message regarding student material pick up will be sent out early next week via School Messenger.
