Principal's Message 1/24/20

1/24/20
TGIF… Twin Groves it’s Friday!

Just a reminder...we have an early release on Tuesday, January 28th. Students will be dismissed at 1:30 PM.

Counseling Corner
Ms. Baker and Ms. McDevitt, School Social Workers
Ms. Koulentes, School Counselor
Ms. Leverentz, School Psychologist

Teaching students math, language arts, history, and all of the other subject areas that are covered here at Twin Groves Middle School are all important for their development.  However, there is some information that students should also know that is not necessarily covered in any one of these classes.

We as educators and parents may assume that our students know the basic information of their lives… but in this digital age we have found an increase in the number of students who have not yet memorized (or have forgotten) these critical pieces of personal information. Please take a moment to check in with your child to gauge their readiness with the following personal information and safety knowledge:

Can your child tell you, with ease:
-Home address
-Phone number/ Parents’ or Guardians’ phone numbers
-Birthdate (including year)
-Emergency contact name and phone number
-Any medical issues they’d need to communicate to others in an emergency
-How and when to dial 911 (including knowledge of any specific methods for unlocking cell phone/dialing on a cell phone in an emergency)

KCSD96 Offers a Dual Language Opportunity
Parents are invited to consider the Dual Language Program for their incoming Willow Grove kindergartner. The program’s purpose is to give children the opportunity to develop a deep academic proficiency in two languages. Fifty percent of the academic day instruction is delivered in Spanish and 50 percent in English. Following their kindergarten year at Willow Grove, Dual Language participants continue at Country Meadows for Grades 2–5 and transition to Woodlawn for Grades 6–8.

To be included in the public lottery that will be used to select the 2020–21 Dual Language kindergarten class, an Interest Form (ENGLISH or SPANISH) is due to the Willow Grove Early Learning Center office by 3:00 p.m. on March 18th.

LEARN MORE about the KCSD96 Dual Language program and attend a Parent Education Evening on February 12th or March 16th at 6:30 p.m. at Willow Grove Early Learning Center to hear a presentation from District faculty/administrators and ask questions.
