TGIF...Twin Groves it’s Friday!
What’s Happening at TG?
Spanish
In 6th grade Spanish, students are studying days of the week, the numbers 0-31 and the months. In 7th grade Spanish, students are reviewing activities with me gusta and learning the other clarifiers. In 8th grade Spanish, students have learned places and are now starting interrogatives.
Band
The pep band has finished two basketball games and has two more for the boys teams. The students have prepared and played well. The jazz band is getting started now and we have a good group of jazzers coming out and learning all about jazz. 6th grade students are doing well coming to lessons and improving each week and our 7th and 8th grade band classes are working on music for upcoming concerts and reviewing through our lesson books. We also would like to congratulate all of the students who tried out for the District 7 Honor band and the three students who made. We are very proud of your hard work.
Orchestra
Congratulations to all of the students who auditioned for ILMEA! I am very proud of each the students and all of their hard work! A huge congratulations to the 10 orchestra students who made it into ILMEA and will perform at the festival on Saturday, November 3rd! Chamber Orchestra students are preparing for their performance at the 4th/5th Grade Orchestra Demo Concert on Thursday, November 1st as the special guest performance. The 6th, 7th and 8th Grade Orchestra students are also getting ready for their upcoming concert on Wednesday, November 14th at 7pm. This concert will be with the TG Chorus.
Conference Information
On October 19th, there will be information sent to parents regarding conferences and sign ups.

Colts Council- Charity of the Year
Colt's Council will be supporting Feed My Starving Children as our yearly charity! We are gathering information regarding interest in volunteering at the Libertyville location on Monday evenings during the school year. Your volunteer date would be based on your child's grade level and would take place from approximately 6-7:30 pm. Students will need to go home after school and have a parent or guardian drive them and pick them up from the location in Libertyville. Parents are more than welcome to join as transportation will NOT be provided. Please take a moment to fill out this survey if you would be interested in joining us!

This is not the same marijuana...
Marijuana today is significantly stronger and more potent than that of previous decades. In the 60s and 70s, street grade marijuana had an average of about 3% THC. Today, concentrates with upwards of 94% THC can be purchased. Given the greater amount of THC, psychotic episodes, panic attacks, addiction and other adverse effects have become increasingly more common while using marijuana. Use during the teen years can have long-term/permanent effects on the developing brain. Today's marijuana is a completely different drug.
