TGIF…Twin Groves it’s Friday!
What’s happening in Spanish, Orchestra, and Band?
Spanish
In 6th grade Spanish, students recently finished the time unit. We are now moving on to likes and dislikes with gustar.
In 7th grade Spanish, students have been working on the verb SER with personality traits. We will continue using this verb, but with physical descriptions.
In 8th grade Spanish, students will be using the chores vocabulary with the present progressive and then will be moving on with the clothing unit.
Orchestra
Our 8th Grade Orchestra students had a wonderful experience at the SHS 8th Grade Orchestra Consortium concert on January 18th! Our TG 8th Graders along with other orchestra students from other consortium schools got to work with the SHS Orchestra directors, take a tour with current high school orchestra students, and perform on a wonderful concert!
We are getting excited for the upcoming IGSMA Solo/Ensemble contest on Saturday, Feb. 10th at Antioch Upper Grade School as well as the IGSMA Recital Night on Wednesday, Feb. 7th at Twin Groves at 7pm. Please make sure your child has met with his/her accompanist (if applicable) and has scheduled rehearsals. We look forward to beautiful performances at both events!
Band
Band students are currently practicing solos and ensembles. All students will perform them in February during class. Some students have chosen to take their solo or ensemble to contest, February 10. There will be a recital night February 7th for students in the IGSMA contest, all are welcome to attend, 7:00 PM. Concert Band students are preparing for their concert February 13, with the Cadet Bands from Prairie and Ivy Hall. The Music Boosters are sponsoring an "after concert social" immediately afterwards. Winter Bash
Time to shake off that winter chill! Our Winter Bash is Friday, February 9, 2018, from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm, right after school. Enjoy music and entertainment by Monster Entertainment. Try your luck at the raffle and take a lot of great pictures with your friends in our professional photo booth, provided by Photo Booth Time.
Bus service will not be available; you must pick up your child after the event.
Advance tickets through February 6th: $8 and includes admission, snacks, water and 2-raffle tickets. Additional raffle tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. Please visit TG Membership Toolkit to register now and avoid the lines at the door!

Day of Business with SHS’s FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America)
The Stevenson High School FBLA group (Future Business Leaders of America) visited the 7th and 8th graders at Twin Groves today. This was an exciting opportunity that allowed the students to see class and club offerings for their future at Stevenson High School.
VEX Robotics Competition at SHS Saturday
Stevenson High School (One Stevenson Dr., Lincolnshire, IL) will host its annual VEX Robotics Tournament from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Saturday, Jan. 27, in the Wood Commons. (Park in Parking Lot B.) This event is free and open to the public. Forty robots from 10 schools have been entered into the competition. Flu Season is here….
"Flu season is spreading within Lake County and KCSD 96. In the event your child is not feeling well, please notify the school office for absences including symptoms, if they have a fever, or if they are diagnosed with influenza from a medical provider.
