TGIF…Twin Groves it’s Friday!
Just a reminder... We have an early release on Tuesday, January 23rd. Dismissal will be at 1:30PM.
What’s happening in PE and Health?
During the Month of January the students will be involved in a VB unit. The unit will consist of games, strategies and skills. During this time each class will rotate every three days for a fitness day. The focus on these days will be muscular strength and endurance.
This rotation in health: The sixth graders are learning about first aid and how to treat some common emergencies. The seventh graders are investigating stress and ways to deal with stress. In addition they are working on communication skills that works on the social side of the health triangle. Finally, the 8th graders are working on nutrition and how the body uses the food we take in. Students will learn about nutrients, 3D printed food, eating disorders and more.

Winter Bash
Time to shake off that winter chill! Our Winter Bash is Friday, February 9, 2018 from 3:00 - 5:00 pm, right after school. Enjoy music and entertainment by Monster Entertainment. Try you luck at the raffle and take lots of great pictures with your friends in our professional photo booth, provided by Photo Booth Time.
Bus service will not be available; you must pick up your child after the event.
Advance tickets through February 6th: $8 and includes admission, snacks, water and 2-raffle tickets. Additional raffle tickets are $1 or 6 for $5. Please visit TG Membership Toolkit to register now and avoid the lines at the door!

Simplifying Stevenson Program is Jan. 22
Simplifying Stevenson is a Q&A program for parents of current Grade 8 students. The purpose of this popular program is to give parents the opportunity to ask Stevenson students (District 96 alumni!)–seniors and freshmen and SHS Principal Troy Gobble–questions about how SHS students choose their classes and extracurricular activities, make summer school decisions, make the transition from middle school, balance the workload, and more. No preregistration/RSVP is needed and all interested adults are welcome.

Community Informational Meeting: Solar Energy in KCSD96
On Tuesday, Jan. 23, Kildeer Countryside School District 96 administrators and their consultants will host an informational meeting for the community about the solar energy installation to occur on the Country Meadows/Woodlawn campus this year. The purpose of the meeting is to present the project and to inform about the District's decision to move to an alternate energy source for this campus. The community is welcome to attend this meeting on January 23 at 7:00 p.m. in the Woodlawn Middle School Learning Center, 6362 Gilmer Rd., Long Grove. Please call 847.459.4260 with questions.
Stevenson High School Project Lead the Way Visits 8th Grade Science
During all 8th grade Science classes on Tuesday, January 16th, the 8th graders were treated to wonderful presentation by Stevenson Project Lead the Way teachers from Stevenson. This gave the 8th graders the opportunity to see the different course offerings in the area of Engineering and Architecture and Media Arts and Technology Education.
Stevenson High School Fine Arts Tour
Earlier today, the 8th graders were treated to wonderful performances by the Stevenson Fine Arts Department. This gave the 8th graders the opportunity to see the different course offerings and clubs available through the Fine Arts Department.
Day of Business with SHS’s FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America)
The Stevenson High School FBLA group (Future Business Leaders of America) will be coming to the 7th and 8th graders at Twin Groves on Friday, January 26th. This is an exciting opportunity that will allow the students to see class and club offerings for their future at Stevenson High School.

Children with temperatures of 100 degrees or above, sneezing or runny noses, sore or irritated eyes, or severe abdominal cramps should not be in school. A child with a temperature of 100 degrees or more should stay home for 24 hours after his or her temperature returns to normal without the use of fever-reducing medications. Parents should notify the school whenever there is confirmation of a communicable or contagious illness of any sort.
A doctor's note stating that the child may return to school is needed when a child has been absent from school for five or more consecutive days.
