Winter Party Fun!

Good afternoon Prairie Families,

As we approach the end of the year, I want to take a moment to extend my warmest wishes to each and every one of you. I hope this break is filled with laughter, warmth, and cherished moments with loved ones. Whether you're traveling, taking a break, or enjoying the festivities close to home, I hope you have a safe, relaxing winter break.

This week was filled with the holiday spirit! Our Puma Choir brought holiday cheer to the residents of Sedgebrook Retirement Community, Mrs. Sheridan visited our lunches to facilitate some fun Minute-To-Win-It games, and we capped off the week with our winter classroom parties facilitated by our PTO volunteers.

As I reflect on the end of 2023, I want to express my deepest appreciation for the strong partnership with the families of Prairie. I feel so fortunate to be part of an amazing community. I look forward to seeing you all again in 2024, ready for another great year! Until then, take care, stay safe, and have a joyful holiday season!

Kindly,

Lauren Delahanty

NEW *ACCESS Testing*

The State of Illinois requires identified English Learner (EL) students to annually participate in the ACCESS testing to determine current English language proficiency in Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. Our ACCESS testing window will occur from 1/17-2/22. Each school’s testing schedule is unique and will only impact students who take the ACCESS test. Students taking ACCESS do not need to prepare anything ahead of time.

REPEAT *Recess During the Winter*

For students to play in the snow, they must have snow pants, boots, gloves, and a jacket.  This applies to both the field and the playground area. This ensures that their clothes, hands, and feet are dry for lunch and the remainder of the afternoon.  Students who do not have snow pants and boots can still play on the blacktop area.
