Prairie Principal's Message - 11.10.23

Prairie Principal's Message - 11.10.23

November 10, 2023

Good afternoon Prairie Families,

The end of trimester one is in the books! It’s hard to believe that we have completed one third of the 2023-2024 school year. With Halloween behind us, teachers and students enjoyed a regular 5 day week of instruction.

We enjoyed watching our fifth grade Band students at their first concert of the year. On Monday, our Orchestra students will be performing their first concert. It is great to see the students so confidently show off their musical skills!

Have a great weekend,

Ms. Lauren Delahanty

NOTE: iPads will be needed for some of the sessions. Please bring your child’s iPad to family reading night.

Each week I have featured a new book and session offered at our Reading Adventure Night. This will help inform your decision for which two sessions you would like to attend. There are four offered this year. If you would like to know about previous sessions, visit the last principal’s message.

This week I introduce to you, Amy Wu and the Perfect Bao and Avocado Asks.

Amy loves to make bao with her family. But it takes skill to make the bao taste and look delicious. And her bao keep coming out all wrong.

Then she has an idea that may give her a second chance…Will Amy ever make the perfect bao?

*NEW Student Attendance

We know that some absences are necessary due to illness and other circumstances. Being absent a couple of days per month adds up very quickly. Two (2) absences per month or 17 days per school year adds up to 10% of the school year. Missing 10% of school days triggers a designation by the state of Illinois as “chronically absent.” We appreciate your partnership in supporting your child to have strong attendance by being present and on time for school.
