Prairie Principal's Message - 11.3.23

Playing in the Gym

Good afternoon Prairie Families,

What a fun way to end the month of October! On Tuesday, our students had a wonderful time celebrating Halloween with a snowy parade, whole school assembly, and class party!  Thank you to our party planning parents and PTO volunteers for making this a Halloween to remember.

As we end our first trimester of learning, I want to say thank you for your continued support and partnership.

Have a great weekend,
Ms. Lauren Delahanty

NEW *FAMILY READING ADVENTURE PART 2 - SIGN UP LINK!!!

Join us and mark your calendars for Thursday, November 16th, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

I have a new addition to add to the post from last week’s principal message! Each week I will feature a new book and session offered at our Reading Adventure Night. This will help inform your decision on which two sessions you would like to attend. There are five offered this year. If you would like to know about previous sessions, visit the last principal’s message.

This week I introduce to you, Chez Bob, by Bob Shea.

Book cover of "Chez Bob" (by Bob Shea)

Welcome to Chez Bob, which seems like a real restaurant...until you realize...it's on an alligator's NOSE! Bob's got a hidden plan for his customers: "Birds will come to eat, but I will eat the birds!" As they fly in from all over the world to dine on Bob's face, something starts to happen that takes the lazy, hungry reptile by surprise—the birds stay. "More yummy birds!" he rejoices—he'll want for nothing! But when the time is right, will Bob make the right choice?

The activities for this book are:

  • Make your own restaurant menu
  • Spot the difference
  • Design and draw your own next to make the perfect perch for Bob and his friends.

NEW THIS YEAR! BOOK SWAP

We will be hosting a book swap. If you're like me and have read the same bedtime story for the 30th time, or have a tower of books because your shelves are full, it might be time to mix up your child's book selection by donating to the book swap station. A book swap is an easy way to freshen your library collection at home without spending extra money. It's easy, bring some books that you would like to swap to our Reading Adventure Night, and spend some time swapping them out with other books! Please only bring books that are in good condition. Any books that aren't chosen at the end of the night will be donated to Bernie's Book Bank.

REMEMBER to RSVP and register early.

Register here!

Can’t wait to see you there! - Mrs. Spivack
