Principal's Message 8.14.20

Dear Parents,

Our 2nd week back at Prairie was a success! We welcomed staff into the building to start organizing materials for the year ahead.  he office staff was excited to see our staff coming in and it was clear they are excited to get back to instruction and are very eager to meet your child.

By now you’ve received your child’s classroom teacher placement for the year. As a district, we’ve been working very hard to plan a Greet the Teacher/Materials Pick-Up day to welcome our students and families. Be sure to check out the details below.

As you may know, Mrs. Linda Johnson retired on June 30th ending a wonderful 40-year career with District 96.  We have been in touch with her often and she is enjoying kicking back and doing the things that she loves.  I am happy to share that Mrs. Michele Demas has stepped into the Administrative Assistant position.  She is very excited about being Prairie's Administrative Assistant.

We also welcome Mrs. Ann Glassgow as our new Clerical Aide.  Mrs. Glassgow looks forward to meeting our Prairie families and building strong relationships with you.

Please enjoy the weekend ahead and we look forward to seeing you at Greet the Teacher/Materials Pick-Up this Thursday.

Kindly,

Christine Pfaff

NEW *Greet The Teacher & Student Materials Pick-Up*

In District 96, we deeply value the importance of building connections with students and families.  In an effort to bring some normalcy to the beginning of the school year, please join us on Thursday, August 20th for Materials Pick Up and a chance to Greet your Teacher.  Materials include art kits, music kits, curricular workbooks, and other items depending on grade level.  If school supplies were ordered they were delivered to your house.  We hope to see you between the hours of 12:00-2:00pm.

This event will take place outdoors - WEATHER PERMITTING.  A school messenger will be sent by 10:00am on Thursday to notify you if the event format changes due to weather.

ALL participants (children, parents, staff) MUST wear a mask and remain 6 ft from others at all times.

Find your child’s homeroom teacher table, greet your teacher, and take your materials.  Thanks for helping us to keep the process safe, smooth, and efficient to allow all students the opportunity to greet his or her teacher.

Please note that we do have classroom teachers who are unable to attend in person.  We will ensure there is someone to hand out your child’s materials.  If your child’s teacher is unable to attend in person, we will have a QR code for you to scan and Zoom with your child’s teacher from the hours of 12:00-2:00.

Please view the map below to see where different grade level tables will be set up. Available parking is indicated on the map as well. Please be aware that the best way to access the school by car is by coming from the north on Aptakisic Road due to construction and ONE-WAY traffic on Brandywyn Lane.

To accommodate all families as safely as possible, please attend during the time slot listed below. We appreciate your help with this matter.

REPEAT *Technology News*

On August 12th, our technology department will begin syncing student data across our systems in preparation for the start of the 20-21 school year. When this sync begins, your student(s) may lose access to some services or applications that are currently on their iPads. This is by design as we prepare to make all of the 20-21 resources available to students for the start of the school year.

Please know that if you request a replacement iPad, Crayon, or accessory while picking up your resources, we will need a broken iPad, Crayon, or accessory from you in order to begin processing replacements. Any requests will also need to be fully documented before a replacement can be processed.
