What’s happening in P.E.?

Our news from the American Heart Association:  "On behalf of the American Heart Association, thank you very much for your school’s donation of $6,512.70 from your recent Kids Heart Challenge (KHC) event. Your efforts make a tremendous impact and will help millions of Americans through increased awareness of cardiovascular disease, lifesaving scientific research, and critically needed education efforts.”  We are so proud of our Prairie Pumas!!

Along with working on our fitness levels and cooperative/teamwork games our students have been developing their skills in 1st & 2nd grade by working on locomotor movements, ball handling, throwing and catching, parachute activities, jump rope and dance.  In 3rd-5th grade students are working on jump rope, basketball, volleyball and FitnessGram components.  We look forward to the weather warming up so we can get outside but until then we certainly will be busy in the gym!

Illinois Science Assessment to be Administered Beginning March 9th

Students in Grades 5 and 8 will be taking the Illinois Science Assessment (ISA) next week, on March 9, 10, and 11. The test includes three sections and aligns with Illinois Learning Standards in science to prepare students for college and careers. Each testing session is estimated to be approximately 40 minutes long.

The format reflects classroom experiences and gives students authentic opportunities to demonstrate their understanding of science learning targets.
