School Yard Scamper

The crisp temperatures couldn't keep us from Scampering today!  A big thank you to Mr. Verzani, Mrs. Lehtman, Mr. Halverson-our PE student teacher, and the many other staff members who helped to make today's family fun run a huge success.  We'd also like to thank the Buffalo Grove Police Department for helping us kick off our annual event and helping with traffic management.  For a look at some really great pictures, thank you Betsy Fresen, please click HERE.

News from the Library

The library has made some changes this year. Children will be coming to Learning Center class once a week. During this time, they will be hearing about all the wonderful books we have in our library.  We will showcase genres, authors, favorite series, and award winning books- just to name a few. Each week, after the book talk, students will either check out books or practice handwriting/cursive.  This will alternate each week. In summary, half the class is checking out books and the other half is practicing handwriting/cursive. Therefore due dates vary depending on when your child is checking out books. Because of this, due dates are arbitrary. All we ask is that books are returned in a timely manner, after students are done reading them.  I will be sending home notices when a book is out for more than 30 days.

Another change we made is that children can have up to 10 books checked out a time. We are doing our best to guide students in making reasonable decisions about the books they are reading. We are encouraging students to check out a variety of genres that will help "grow their reading brain."

4th and 5th Grade Orchestra Demonstration Concert

The 4th and 5th Grade Orchestra Demonstration Concert will take place on Thursday, November 1st at 7pm at Twin Groves. The concert will take place in the Large Gym. 4th Grade students need to arrive in the TG Orchestra Room and 5th Grade students need to arrive in the TG Band Room by no later than 6:15 pm for tuning and warm-up. All students need to be in their concert attire. It is going to be a fantastic concert! We look forward to seeing you there!
