Morning Line-Up

Every chance I can, meaning when I'm not in an important meeting, I hang out with the kids during morning line up in the multi-purpose room.  It's a great time to just talk with the kids and get caught up with what is going on in their lives.  I really enjoy hearing about their sporting events, theater performances, sleepovers, birthday parties, and downtime with their families.  This past week, a student from Mrs. Weede's class brought in this really cool picture from Kindergarten with all the kids from her class that year.  As you can see in the picture, the souvenir shows what the kids want to be when they grow up.  It was so fun looking at this with a big group of 5th graders and talking about if this is still what they aspire to.  For many of them, they do.  Thanks for bringing this in Future Teacher!

Enhanced Lock Down Drill

On  September 26th, in collaboration with the Buffalo Grove Police Department, we conducted an enhanced lockdown drill. Our students, teachers, and building staff participated in the drill together to help us consider and review best practice options and actions to keep us safe if an intruder were to enter our school.

Both the Buffalo Grove police department and I were extremely impressed with our students' problem-solving during the drill. Our students were calm throughout and their thoughtful conversation together with their teachers reflected their understanding of response options for safety in a variety of scenarios.

No School Reminder

Please remember that we do not have school on Monday, October 8th due to Columbus Day.

Writing Club

Do you LOVE to write?  Or do you want to develop a love of writing? If so, please join me, Mrs. Doherty, at Writing Club!  During our time together, we will discuss different types of writing and just write! This is your opportunity to be creative, educate people, show off your talents, and so much more! We will showcase our writing in Dr. Pfaff's Principal's message twice a month.

We will meet in my room on Friday mornings, starting October 5th and ending May 24th. Our club will run from 7:40 am to 8:20 am. I will meet students in the foyer by the office.  There is no limit to the number of students permitted into this club. Please click here to sign up.

Scamper Fun Run

Any volunteer attending the Scamper Fun Run will need to register in the office using our Raptor system by scanning their driver's license or state identification card. A badge will be provided to each visitor.

Please come to Prairie before October 5th to scan your ID.  If you do not come prior to the event, you will need to stand in line potentially missing the Scamper Fun Run event.
