Flagpole Assembly

Prairie's conclusion to the school year is always a heartfelt one as we gather around the flagpole, wish our graduating 5th graders good luck, and sing our school song Cheer, Cheer for Prairie.  This year was no exception with our Sign Language Club students signing our school song alongside our music teacher Miss McShane.  We wish our departing 5th graders the best as they enter middle school.  I would like to thank the teachers and assistants for their dedication throughout the school year.  We are very fortunate to have such a wonderful staff.  Enjoy your summer!

Fond Farewell and Best Wishes, Officer Paul

Buffalo Grove Police Department School Resource Officer Cliff Paul will be leaving District 96 and moving out of state at the close of this school year. Officer Paul is well known to our students and staff and a familiar friendly face in our school family. We will miss him and we wish him the best! The Buffalo Grove Police Department invites Officer Paul's family and community friends to attend a brief ceremony in his honor on Wed., June 13, at 2 PM. The police department is located at 46 Raupp Boulevard, Buffalo Grove.

Registration for the 2018-2019 School Year

Please help us secure our section numbers (number of classrooms) for all grade levels by registering now. The faster parents register, the earlier new positions can be hired. We sincerely appreciate your help to secure new positions as early as possible. Section numbers are completely based upon enrollment. We cannot depend on your child being here unless he/she has been registered.

As new families move into your neighborhoods, please remind them to register as soon as possible for school. Prairie School is open through June 30th and reopens August 1st. The District Office is open all summer, including July, and registration can be done through the District Office for new families. Thank you for helping us enroll all of our students as promptly as possible.

Summer Reading for Student Growth

Having students continue to read during the summer when school is not in session is extremely important to their academic growth and to prevent them from losing academic progress. Because our goal is to have our students continue to read for pleasure, we offer grade-level-specific book suggestion lists of various genres to appeal to a variety of interests. Also, grade levels have assigned specific activities as well as a student interest inventory to complete and return at the beginning of the school year. Please CLICK HERE to find your student's parent letter (including required grade-level activity), book suggestions, and reader interest inventory, listed by 2018-2019 grade level.

Questions? Please contact the school office.

iPad Policy Change

The end of the year is a busy time for everyone, but it's always good to get a head start and thinking next year. The policy concerning iPad damage will be different next year. This change is reflected in the flyer HERE and in greater detail in the 2018-19 Student Handbook. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Summer Goal-Setting OPTION for Elementary Students

District 96 students do a lot of learning during the school year! The National Summer Learning Association reports that students can lose up to 3 months of academic learning in a summer, however. Why not keep the learning going by helping your student set and work to meet for goals math and literacy learning in ways that are fun and interesting?https://sites.google.com/kcsd96.org/summer-fun/home

Parents interested in this optional opportunity for their child will find lots of engaging activities on THIS WEBSITE and can use THIS FORM to help their student set goals and track progress.
