Half Day of School on Friday, May 25th - 11:45 am Dismissal

Community Day - Friday, May 25th

Community Day is an opportunity for you to spend time with your child during the school day.  Your child will share with you assignments and projects they have done this year and you will participate in class team building activities together.  We’ve designed a time to visit one of the three specials class (Art, Music, or P.E.) as well based on your child’s choice. Families with multiple children attending Prairie will be grouped together, however, if you prefer your children to remain with their own class please indicate this in your RSVP.  Family members age 18 and older are welcome to attend. Important information about this day:

  • You must RSVP here for this fun event
  • The office staff MUST print you a Raptor Security badge.  We will preprint badges for parents who are already in the Raptor system.  If you are not in the Raptor system you will need to stand in line to get a badge printed.  You and any attending family members are HIGHLY encouraged to stop by school to register yourself in the Raptor system to avoid a long line and potentially missing the event.
  • At this time, we have 67 registered family members that do not have a Raptor badge who will need to stand in line to receive a badge.  We can only process one person at a time for this badge.

Field Day - Thursday, May 24th

From the Health office:  Thursday, May 24 (weather permitting) is our Field Day.  (Rain Date - 5/29) Children spend a portion of the day outside. It is advised that you apply sunscreen in the morning. Children can also bring sunscreen, but we cannot apply it. Please practice having your child apply their own sunscreen.  It is also advised that you dress your child accordingly, knowing they'll be in the sun if you are concerned about too much sun, such as wearing a long sleeve lightweight/light colored shirt. Children can also wear hats and sunglasses.

Children can and should bring water bottles!  Please label their water bottle with their name.

If your child has asthma or allergies and needs medication, please make sure we have it available in the health office, with the appropriate medication authorization form from his/her physician.  The form may be downloaded from the District 96 website. If you have any questions, please contact the Prairie building nurse, Ms. Strom.

It's Tick Season

We want to remind you it is tick season and advise that we have seen a few cases in the nurse's office this week. During recess, students are restricted from the prairie and wooded areas near the playground in an effort to minimize tick cases. PLEASE READ this info. We ask your due diligence in checking your child for ticks and following up with your doctor if you choose to do so. If you have questions, please contact Ms. Strom, our school nurse, at 847.634.3144, ext. 3706, [email protected]

End of Year Medication Pick Up

Please be reminded that no medications will be sent home with students. This includes all prescriptions and non-prescription medication. If you wish to have your child's medication, please come to the health office the last week of school to pick up the medication. Any medication not picked up by the last day of school, will be destroyed in accordance with District 96 policy.

Please remember to complete a New Medication Authorization for the coming year if your child will need medication at school, including the allergy action plan, if applicable. Forms can be found on the District 96 website. If you have any questions, please contact the Prairie building nurse, Ms. Strom.
