Prairie Celebrate & Donate Cultural Fair - A FUN FAMILY EVENT - Calling All Countries

We’ve been sharing for several weeks that we will be hosting a cultural fair - Celebrate & Donate - on Friday, March 16th.  We are excited that we have several families hosting their native countries.  We would love to have you join as well because the more the merrier for this exciting celebration of diversity.  If you are interested in participating, please click here to complete this brief survey. Additionally, we are having a meeting on Thursday, February 15th at 5:30 pm in the Prairie School Library to answer all hosting families' questions.  If you can’t make that, no worries, we will be happy to send you a Q & A summary.

Student Absences & Flu/Flu-like Symptoms

Flu season is spreading within Lake County and KCSD 96.   In the event your child is not feeling well, please notify the school office for absences including symptoms, if they have a fever, or if they are diagnosed with influenza from a medical provider.  Please click HERE for more specific guidance on illness-related absences.

School Store Purchases

The School Store is a fun way for students to purchase small toys and school supplies with proceeds going back to students in a variety of ways from our PTO.  At times, we notice that students are bringing amounts of money that may be too large in comparison to the cost of the items available, as the majority of items are $1.00 or less.  Please talk with your child about what you feel is a comfortable spending limit for them at the School Store and help them to pack the appropriate amount of money.

Valentine’s Parties

It's that time of year and our Valentine's parties are less than a month away. Please remember if you choose to include an item with your child's Valentines, that only non-food items are permissible and we ask that no goody bags are sent.  Candy, snacks, or any sort of food item will be sent back home with your child on Valentine's day if sent to school.  Students do receive a snack during the party provided from the PTO based upon the District 96 Approved Snack List.  Thanks for your help in keeping all students safe.
