Stanley Cup of Blue Ribbons
Since receiving the Blue Ribbon Award, our Blue Ribbon plaque has been traveling to each classroom to spend a few days where students can get up close to it and continue to enjoy the pride we feel for earning this award. This week, Miss McShane, Miss Peterson, and Miss Barba’s classes enjoyed hosting our plaque.

4th Grade Ellis Island Immigration Simulation Experience
On Thursday our 4th-grade students got a snippet of what it was like to immigrate to the United States during the Ellis Island immigration years. Students traveled through stations designed to replicate the ship, waiting in line in the Great Room, and then passed through rooms undergoing medical examinations and legal processing. Parent volunteers helped make this a memorable experience for our fourth graders by acting as Ellis island employees and sharing their native languages with all of us. Please take a minute to TAKE A LOOK at the photos.

Valentine’s Parties
It's that time of year and our Valentine's parties are less than a month away. Please remember if you choose to include an item with your child's Valentines, that only non-food items are permissible and we ask that no goody bags are sent. Candy, snacks, or any sort of food item will be sent back home with your child on Valentine's day if sent to school. Students do receive a snack during the party provided from the PTO based upon the District 96 Approved Snack List. Thanks for your help in keeping all students safe.
Prairie Cultural Fair - A FUN FAMILY EVENT - Calling All Parents!
On the evening of Friday, March 16th we will be having a fun family event for all showcasing the many cultures represented in our school community. We hope to encourage our students to learn about other cultures, to celebrate what makes us all unique, and to recognize cultural traits that we share. We cannot do this without your support and are looking for parents who would like to share artifacts and traditions from around the globe with our students and families. You can partner up with a friend or family member or do your own thing! Parents who are interested can share about holidays, traditions, clothing, games/toys, geographical location and landmarks, music, art, food, etc. We are so excited for this event! We hope that you will consider sharing with our school community. We would all love to learn from you! If you would be interested in participating, please click here to complete this brief survey. THANK YOU!
Below is a list of common questions we have received and the answers. If you have any other questions, please feel free to email the committee at [email protected]
1: Will school provide tables to display country-specific artifacts? A: Yes
2: How will we sign up to form groups? A: Countries will be grouped together and we will put common country volunteers in contact with each other.
3: Can we have a table where Henna tattoos can be drawn? A: Yes
4: Can we have kids participate in the booth to tell about the culture they are representing? A: Yes
5: Can we have a group dance? A: Performances would be presented in the hosting country's classroom. We have suggestions to make this run smoothly if you would like to do this.
6: Is it ok to put up national flag, pictures, clothes from different parts of the country we are sharing? A: Yes, we would love this.
7: Can we have a game of carom/chess set up? A: Yes
8: Can we have more than one room/booth? A: Common countries will be grouped together. If there will be food served, this will be done in the cafeteria thus creating two spaces for the country, a classroom and a food table in the cafeteria.
9: Does food need to be from safe snack list? A: Food served outside of school hours does not need to be from the approved snack list.
