Another successful week of remote learning is behind us as we enter the month of May. Our staff continues to work to meet the needs of students, remain connected and uphold the culture of the classroom, and plan meaningful and thoughtful lessons to ensure learning prevails.
Please know that teachers have included audio and video clips to support student learning in slideshows. This was included to provide a level of independence we hope supports families juggling so much at home. This is just a friendly “ask” to remind your students to listen/watch the audio and video clips, as they do provide a significant amount of content. We appreciate your continued support!
As always, we will continue to update you through the weekly Principal’s Message and Julie Schmidt’s Superintendent’s Message as new information and plans are confirmed.

Don't Wait! Register for the 2020–21 School Year
If you haven't already registered your new or returning District 96 student for the 2020–21 school year, please do so right away. Having an accurate enrollment count is important for anticipating staffing needs appropriately. Please tell new neighbors and friends to contact the public info coordinator [email protected] with registration questions and for info on options to delay/waive registration fees.
Staff Appreciation
Next week is Staff Appreciation Week! Our PTO is committed to making sure this week still happens for staff, and we are so appreciative of their willingness to go the extra mile. With that being said, we also know that there is nothing more special than receiving a note of appreciation. Given how hard our staff is working during these times, please feel free to send a “thank you” to those that work with your child. If you need help with an email address, check the staff directory.
Willow Grove Dance Party!
Pop some popcorn and make this a family movie night! Everyone really came through and we have an amazing dance party video to share, filled with kids, families, and staff of the Willow Grove community shaking their groove thing. Thank you to all those who contributed. I hope it added some fun to your day. This video sure brightened mine! Enjoy!

Medication Pick-Up
It has been the nursing team's pleasure to care for your child’s health needs this school year. In keeping with our School Board Policy, any unused medication remaining at the end of the school year must be picked up by parents. This ensures the safety and well being of all children.
The medications from each building have been picked up and brought to the ELC located at the following address:
990 Corporate Woods Parkway
Vernon Hills, Illinois 60061
You may pick the medication(s) up on the following days:
- Wednesday, May 6 (8-3:30)
- Thursday, May 7 (8-3:30)
- Friday, May 8 (8-3:30)
If your child will require medication to be kept at school next year, please download the forms from the school website and take the forms to your physician over the summer for completion.
Please note that there is a section on the form for the parent and physician to complete and sign.
Returning this information, on or before the first day of school, will help ensure the safety of your child at school. The medication must be labeled and in its original container and will not be accepted without the completed physician’s order.
Please place the medication in a gallon size zip-lock baggie, labeled with your student’s name, grade and homeroom teacher. Medication must be transported to the school by the parents.

Making and Keeping Stay-At-Home Memories
School Resource Officers Ashley Krozel and Mike Martin from the Village of Buffalo Grove Police Department have provided a COVID-19 TIME CAPSULE–a fun activity to help students and their parents capture and preserve the details of staying safe at home together during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic.

REPEATING: Tech Support (Kindergarten-5th Grade)
I’m having technical issues while accessing slideshows in the Google Slides app. What can I do to get around these issues?
- DELETE the Google Slides app from your student’s device. (It can always be re-downloaded from Self-Service at a later time.)
- Open the Google Drive app on your student’s iPad and locate the shared slideshow that you are trying to view.
- Play the slideshow from within the Google Drive application, or OPEN IN SAFARI if given the option.
As students are home with their iPad devices to access remote learning plans, we do anticipate there may be some tech needs that arise. If you run into any difficulty with your child’s school iPad, just send us an email explaining your problem and we can support you and your device. Dejamos atrás otra semana exitosa de aprendizaje a distancia mientras iniciamos el mes de mayo. Nuestro personal sigue trabajando para satisfacer las necesidades de los estudiantes, se mantienen conectados y mantienen la cultura del salón de clase, y planean lecciones significativas y reflexivas para asegurar que el aprendizaje prevalezca.
Por favor tenga en cuenta que los maestros han incluido audios y clips de video para apoyar el aprendizaje del estudiante en la presentación de diapositivas. ¡La próxima semana es la semana de la Apreciación del Personal! Nuestro PTO se compromete en asegurar que se pueda lograr para el personal, y estamos agradecidos por su disposición por ir más allá. Ha sido un placer para el equipo de enfermeras atender a las necesidades de salud de su hijo durante este año escolar. Para cumplir con las Reglas de nuestra Junta Escolar, los padres deben recoger cualquier medicamento que no se utilizó al final del año escolar. Esto garantiza la seguridad y el bienestar de todos los niños.
Los medicamentos de cada edificio han sido recogidos y llevados al ELC que está ubicado en:

Creando y Guardando Memorias de Quedarse en Casa

REITERACIÓN: Ayuda Técnica (Kindergarten-5° Grado)
Tengo problemas técnicos mientras ingreso a la presentación de diapositivas en la aplicación de Google Slides. ¿Qué puedo hacer para solucionar este problema?
- ELIMINE la aplicación de Google Slides del iPad de su estudiante. (Se puede volver a bajar del Self-Service más adelante)
- Abra la aplicación de the Google Drive en el iPad de su estudiante y localice la presentación de diapositivas compartida que usted está tratando de ver.
- Reproduzca la presentación de diapositivas dentro de la aplicación de Google Drive o ABRA EN SAFARI si le da esa opción.
