Woodlawn Fall Party

Fall Party was a huge success!!! Thank you to all of our amazing volunteers who helped before, during and after the party!  We truly could not hold an event of this capacity without the help of numerous volunteers. Thank you to all of our Woodlawn parent/caregiver volunteers, Stevenson High School student volunteers and Woodlawn staff members who dedicated their time to make this a fun event for all!

A special thank you…

  • To our PTO Fall Party Committee Chairs who started preparations months prior to the event: Sarah Baker, Alissa Morrow, Kruti Parkash, Carisa Weiss and Yvonne Wendland.
  • To our Executive Board Members who always help behind-the-scenes: Marlene Aaron,  Juliann Boardman, Bob Christian, Donna Cobb, Holly Krull, Kristie Norvell and Elizabeth  Owens.
  • To our Food & Entertainment Vendors who were all outstanding!
    • Photo Booth – Mitch Castro from JC Balloons
    • DJ – Famos DJ Entertainment
    • Fortune Teller – Beth Jacobellis
    • Escape Artist-Magician – The Great Bodini
    • Pizza – Papa John’s

A sincere farewell and thank you to…

Alissa Morrow and Yvonne Wendland for their years of contributions as Fall Party coordinators, from Escape Rooms to the success of bringing back a Haunted House in a different fashion this year. Fall Party participation has grown annually, due to the  amount of time and effort these ladies have dedicated to make the event a huge success and fun for all who attend! You will be greatly missed; we thank you for your years of service to our Woodlawn community and wish you all the best in the future!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Volunteer Spotlight

In this month’s volunteer spotlight, we would like to introduce you to Yvonne Wendland and Elizabeth Owens.

  • Yvonne has been the PTO’s Corresponding Secretary for the past three years. She  does a fantastic job keeping you notified of PTO events on our social media and blog  posts. Yvonne has also been an invaluable volunteer, heading committees for our  school parties. Yvonne has worked to make our school parties welcoming to the widest  range of students by offering a nice variety of activities at all our events. This has been  a huge part of the success of our parties. Yvonne has inevitably been instrumental in  creating wonderful social memories that our kids will carry with them throughout their  lives. There will be a stretch of time before Yvonne finds herself back at Woodlawn, and we would like to thank her for all she has done to keep our community “in the know” and  providing fun festivities for our students.

 Yvonne Wendlent

Elizabeth Owens is our lead Co-President this year. She moved back to Illinois about two years ago. We have been fortunate that Elizabeth takes great interest in community and school involvement and jumped right into the Woodlawn Treasurer's board position two years ago. She has dedicated her time and knowledge to our organization to support our students, staff and administrators in a variety of ways. We  appreciate that she has been enthusiastic about getting involved and contributes immensely to our school community.

                                                              Mrs. Owens

We encourage you to continue to read our MONTHLY BLOG during the school year for information on upcoming events.

Please don’t forget to follow us on our Social Media Accounts for more up-to-date information.
