iPAD HANDBOOK
The goal of Kildeer Countryside School District 96 (KCSD96) is to maximize the learning potential of all students in an effort to prepare them for a successful future as 21st-century citizens. To do so, KCSD96 has put a 1:1 iPad initiative in place for all KCSD96 students.
The focus of the 1:1 iPad initiative is to provide tools and resources to the 21st-century learner. Excellence in education requires that technology be seamlessly integrated throughout the educational program. Increasing access to technology is essential for that future, and one of the learning tools of these 21st-century students is the iPad. The individual use of iPads is a way to empower students to maximize their full potential and to prepare them for college and the workplace.
According to studies and school reports, students who use a computing device in a 1:1 educational environment are more organized and engaged learners, attend school more regularly, advance their knowledge and understanding of technology, and become constructors and designers of information and ideas. The iPad is a device that makes learning more engaging and accessible.
Learning results from the continuous dynamic interaction among students, educators, parents, and the extended community. Technology immersion does not diminish the vital role of the teacher. To the contrary, it transforms the teacher from a director of learning to a facilitator of learning. Effective teaching and learning with iPads integrates technology into the curriculum any time, any place. KCSD96 believes that the use of 1:1 devices will aid in developing independent self-initiated learners; provide for collaboration and communication between students and teachers; and extend student learning beyond the classroom.
The policies, procedures, and guidelines outlined in this Handbook apply to all iPads used by KCSD96 students. Additional requirements are at the discretion of each classroom teacher.
