Orchestra Director Mrs. Anderson Receives IGSMA Award

Congratulations, Cara Anderson, who was recently awarded by the Illinois Grade School Music Association for her excellence in "IGSMA activities."

Mrs. Anderson was awarded the 2022 Cloyd Myers Memorial Award, "given to a person who has demonstrated educational excellence in IGSMA activities."

She is orchestra director at Twin Groves Middle School and Prairie Elementary School.

In the award letter, IGSMA officials shared these comments from her colleagues:

"Cara brings in energy, creativity and kindness in all of her teachings.  The program has seen phenomenal growth under her leadership."

"Mrs. Anderson not only shows professionalism in teaching, in collaborating and in communicating.  She brings a personal flavor to everything she does - and always puts students first."

She will be recognized at the 84th Annual IGSMA State Meeting this fall on Sunday, Sept. 25. 2022.

The award is named for Cloyd Myers, who devoted many years of his active career to the IGSMA.  In 1957, he was elected President of the association.  In 1988, he was named President Emeritus and given a plaque honoring his 50 years leadership of the Association.
