Good Afternoon Kildeer Families,
We are getting back into the swing of things as we settle into 2025. Students and teachers are working hard each day despite the frigid temperatures! Please ensure that your child is sent to school with proper outdoor attire for outdoor recess with all items labeled. As a reminder, we determine plans for indoor recess if the temperature is feels like 10 degrees and below. Our Lost and Found is filling up more and more each day, so please encourage your child to check the Lost and Found for missing items.
A huge thank you to all the students who submitted a design for our I Am Me…We Are Kildeer t-shirt! Each design was incredibly creative and unique, showcasing the amazing talent in our school.
All of our Kildeer Cougars had the opportunity to select this year’s design, and we are excited to congratulate the creator of this year’s winning design!
As a reminder, there is no school on Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We look forward to welcoming students back on Tuesday, the 21st.
Until our next adventure.
Mrs. Karen Cumpata
*Upcoming Dates*
-
Monday, January 20 - NO SCHOOL - District Holiday
-
Wednesday, January 15 - Tuesday, March 4 - ACCESS Testing
NEW: ACCESS Testing
Parents and guardians, please be aware that the state of Illinois requires identified English Learner (EL) students to annually participate in the ACCESS testing to determine current English language proficiency in Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. Our ACCESS testing window will occur in the coming weeks. Each school’s testing schedule is unique and will only impact students who take the ACCESS test.
It's important that students taking any testing, including ACCESS testing, get a good night's rest the night before and eat a good breakfast that morning. We encourage our students to always try their best. Students do not need to prepare anything ahead of time, however, it's encouraged that they come to school ready and willing to challenge themselves.
NEW: I Am Me…We Are Kildeer
We are only a few weeks away from I Am Me…We Are Kildeer. This event celebrates the diversity of our Kildeer community. We would love for each family to showcase what makes them special. Please click HERE to make a copy of the I Am Me family slide. Once your slide is complete, please share it with Mr. Bratta at [email protected] These slides will be displayed at our I Am Me…We Are Kildeer event on Thursday, February 6, 2025.
REPEAT: Valentine’s Day
Valentine's Day will be celebrated during PTO classroom parties at all elementary schools (Country Meadows, Ivy Hall, Kildeer, and Prairie) on Friday, February 14th. Since February 14 is a half-day, classroom parties will take place from 10:45-11:30am. Your child's teacher will send home any classroom-specific information related to Valentine's Day. Valentines are already popping up in stores. If you choose to send valentines to school and include an item with your child's valentines, please note for the safety of our students only non-food items are permissible. This practice is consistent for all classrooms in District 96 elementary schools, including Willow Grove.
REPEAT: Student Council Fun Hair or Hat Day
Please join Fun Hair or Hat Day on Friday January 24, 2025. Remember, all hairdos are created at home. Let's see all the creative hair or hat ideas that Kildeer school can come up with. Let's have some fun!
