Kildeer Principal's Message - September 2, 2022

Good Afternoon Kildeer Families,

Happy Friday!  It has been a busy week at Kildeer Elementary!  Mr. Higgins and I had the best week reading to the students.  Students made the connection of why we turn on our lights each day and the meaning behind Choose JOY.  I encourage you to ask your child what the light and Choose JOY means.

This week students completed MAP testing.  Absent students completed make-up testing sessions this week and will continue to do so next week if they were unable to participate in this week’s make-up sessions.  Thank you for ensuring your child was well-rested for the testing sessions.

Over the last few years, we have seen an increase in the number of incidents involving Pokemon cards during lunch, recess and unstructured times.  To be consistent across the building and with other elementary schools across the district, Pokemon cards cannot be brought to school.  Thank you for your support and understanding.

Next week, we have Monday, September 5th off in honor of Labor Day.  I hope you are able to enjoy the time off with your child at home or on a special adventure.

Please take a few moments to read some information pertaining to Kildeer Elementary as well as district-wide information.

EnJOY your weekend!

Mrs. Karen Cumpata

“Love Your Passengers”

One of the rules of The Energy Bus is to Love Your Passengers.  While reading to the students, we shared who our passengers are at home and at school.  Mr. Emde is a Passenger on the Kildeer Energy Bus and to show him some love we are asking for all students and staff to wear their favorite sports team attire (jerseys, t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats) on Tuesday, September 6.

REPEAT *Erin’s Law*

An Illinois law known as Erin’s Law requires schools to implement an age-appropriate sexual assault and abuse awareness/prevention curriculum for Kindergarten through Grade 12.

Kildeer Countryside CCSD 96 researched and observed best practices and programs for delivering this instruction, selecting Be Seen & Heard ©. For more information about this presentation please go to www.victorpacini.com/peace-of-mind-2

The focus of this developmentally appropriate and interactive program is to teach children skills to keep them safe from danger or abuse. Concepts discussed will include distinguishing safe from unsafe touches, safety rules at home and school, saying NO, safe/unsafe secrets, and telling a trusted adult, as well as reinforcing that an adult’s touching him or her is not the child’s fault.

Opt-Out Procedures

The presentation to Kildeer students will be during the school day on Friday, September 23.  If you prefer that your child does not attend this prevention education session, please submit your written request or your questions to [email protected]

REPEAT *Student Picture Day*
