Buffalo Grove Fire Department (New)

From John Gilleran Public Education & Information Officer:

Once again the members of the Buffalo Grove Fire Department Public Education Team had a successful

Spring instructing our school children and their teachers about fire safety. Over a two week period from April 30 to May 11, the team visited 8 schools in Buffalo Grove and talked to over 1600 students, and 131 teachers, from pre-school through 2nd grade and few 3rd graders. Students were taught a variety of fire safety lessons including: when to call 9-1-1, if their clothes catch on fire to Stop-Drop-and Roll, to know 2 ways out of every building, to crawl low under smoke and to Get Out and Stay Out once they get to their Meeting Place outside of their home. They were also taught preventative lessons such as staying away from sources of heat and that matches and lighters are for adults only. We would like to thank our partners in education from School Districts 21, 96, and 102, without their cooperation our yearly quest to teach our young citizens would not be possible. These are lessons we hope the children will never have to use but if they are confronted by a fire situation we want them to be prepared and to know what to do.

Congratulations from Mrs. Ok (New)

Congratulations to all the fourth and fifth grade orchestra students for a fantastic concert! And thanks to all the families and staff for your wonderful support throughout the year!

Library Book (Repeat)

Parents if you happen to see any Ivy Hall library books at home. Please return them to school as soon as possible.

Summer Reading for Student Growth (Repeat)

Having students continue to read during the summer when school is not in session is extremely important to their academic growth and to prevent them from losing academic progress. Because our goal is to have our students continue to read for pleasure, we offer grade-level-specific book suggestion lists of various genres to appeal to a variety of interests. Also, grade levels have assigned specific activities as well as a student interest inventory to complete and return at the beginning of the school year. Please CLICK HERE to find your student's parent letter (including required grade-level activity), book suggestions, and reader interest inventory, listed by 2018-2019 grade level.

Questions? Please contact the school office.
